El pasado sábado 19 de agosto, estuve de visita en el Centro de Arte La Estancia de Caracas, con el objetivo de mantener el material en reserva para publicarlo en el reto semanal #wednesdaywalk de @tattoodjay. Bueno, como podrán darse cuenta, no he estado aquí por algunos miércoles, una cuestión que tenía muy presente y que quería solventar, pues es un desafio en el que me gusta participar.
De manera que ese día entre otras actividades que se desarrollaban en ese lugar, particularmente captó mi atención la realización de un Encuentro de Jugueteros y artesanos del Distrito Capital y de algunas regiones de Venezuela. Un evento que por una razón fortuita se estaba llevando a cabo en ese lugar y estaría abierto al público únicamente por ese día. Pues realmente corresponde a una programación regular de La Casona Cultural Aquiles Nazoa y que por motivo de fuerza mayor esa actividad había tenido que ser reubicada, esto de acuerdo con una información que me suministró una de las expositoras del evento.
Ese día no tenía la menor idea de qué actividad artística encontraría allí, de lo que sí estaba completamente segura, era de que no me defraudarían, porque en La Estancia siempre han tenido una excelente propuesta para los fines de semana y aunque sé que antes de ir podría haber consultado la cartelera informativa, preferí que todo fuera una sorpresa. Así la actividad me resultaría más divertida.
Desde entonces estaba pendiente de mostrarles las bellezas exhibidas allí, pero por varias razones de índole familiar que surgieron de manera imprevista, hasta este momento no había podido contar con el tiempo necesario para desarrollar el contenido que hoy finalmente les presento.
I visited the Centro de Arte La Estancia de Caracas last Saturday, August 19th, with the purpose of keeping the material in reserve to publish it in the weekly challenge #wednesdaywalk of @tattoodjay. Well, as you can see, I haven't been here for a few Wednesdays, something I was very aware of and that I wanted to solve, because it is a challenge in which I like to participate.
So that day, among other activities taking place in that place, particularly caught my attention the realization of a Meeting of Toymakers and artisans of the Capital District and of some regions of Venezuela. An event that by a fortuitous reason was taking place in that place and would be open to the public only for that day. Well, it really corresponds to a regular programming of La Casona Cultural Aquiles Nazoa and that for force majeure that activity had had to be relocated, this according to information provided to me by one of the exhibitors of the event.
That day I had no idea what artistic activity I would find there, what I was completely sure of, was that they would not disappoint me, because at La Estancia they have always had an excellent proposal for the weekends and although I know that before going I could have consulted the informative poster, I preferred that everything be a surprise. So the activity would be more fun for me.
Since then I was pending to show you the beauties exhibited there, but for several reasons of family nature that arose unexpectedly, until this moment I had not had the necessary time to develop the content that today finally I present to you.
De manera que después de recorrer el conocido sendero que se puede observar en la fotografía anterior, que conduce hacia la antigua casa La Estancia y una vez ubicada en una de las entradas que dan hacia los corredores exteriores, específicamente, donde queda el área del patio de secado, me topé con la cordial y bonita sonrisa de bienvenida de esta hermosa joven artesana, de Artesanía para el paladar en cuyo stand ofrecía una variedad de exquisitas mermeladas elaboradas con frutas tales como guayaba, fresa y durazno, además de otras alternativas menos conocidas o quizás menos conocidas por mí, hechas a base de ingredientes como auyama y ají dulce. En ese puesto también vendían diversos tipos de tortas, miel de abejas, dulces de cabello de ángel, de leche cortada,a la vez que tenían provocativas bebidas como ponche artesanal y un colorido té de flor de jamaica.
So, after following the well-known path that can be seen in the previous photograph, which leads to the old La Estancia house and once located in one of the entrances that lead to the exterior corridors, specifically, where the patio, I ran into the cordial and beautiful welcoming smile of this beautiful young artisan, from Artesanía para el palada at whose stand she offered a variety of exquisite jams made with fruits such as guava, strawberry and peach and other alternatives less known or perhaps less known to me, made from ingredients such as auyama and ají dulce. In that stall they also sold various types of cakes, honey, angel hair sweets, sour milk, and provocative drinks such as handmade punch and a colorful Jamaican flower
Seguidamente, estaba el interesante puesto de la Red gastronómica de Guatire y Araira, dos poblaciones del estado Miranda, que participaba en dicho Encuentro con su dulcería criolla: conservas, chocolatería, catalinas rellenas, majarete, mazamorra y con el atractivo principal de ese puesto que era la famosa torta Bejarana, ganadora del 1.er lugar en el concurso: Una Bejarano en Guatire en su primera edición. Elaborada por la cultora gastronómica y maestra repostera Ayarí Vahamonde Salguedo.
Next was the interesting stand of the Gastronomic Network of Guatire and Araira, two towns in the state of Miranda, which participated in this Encounter with its Creole confectionery: preserves, chocolate, filled catalinas, majarete, mazamorra and with the main attraction of that stand which was the famous Bejarana cake, winner of 1st place in the contest: A Bejarano in Guatire in its first edition. Elaborated by the gastronomic culturist and master pastry chef Ayarí Vahamonde Salguedo.
