Blustery snowy winter walk in the park

Hello Hello Hivians

Today we are going up to our local park in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 after a wee dusting of snow that fell

This was at the end of last wee and so it was a wee bit chilly but mostly dry.

All these pictures are taken with my smartphone camera. I did take lots of pictures with my camera but those are on my memory card andare for another day!

Wrap up warm!

We had a snowfall and it dawned on me that I had not been walking in the park for a couple of weeks, which meant that I had not taken food to the birds and animals for a couple of weeks.

image.png

My lethargy was put to shame and so I loaded up my bag with food and a camera, wrapped up and off I went.

Not sure about where you live but all councils here complain of no money and they are cutting back everything.

Normally this would have been gritted. But nope, fluffing nothing, which meant the pavements were quite slippy and icy.

image.png

Seeing this sign took me back to my school boy days. We played rugby as I was in the first team we often played on hard icy surfaces that.

You can see the sign mentions Stewart's Melville well we played them many times as they another school in Edinburgh.

image.png

Into the park we went and no surprises then that this hadnot been gritted either.

So bascially they were waiting for sun power to melt things.

Back in the day the perimeter of Beveridge Park was used as motorbike racing track!

I think it is two and a bit miles in circumference.

image.png

The bike is an homage to a local Kirkcaldy Motorcycle club member who was a bit of a hot shot.

It is a wooden statue.

image.png

So to the boating pond we went.

Frozen yep that water is frozen on top.

image.png

That is why there were not birds visible at all. Even the darker patch was frozen.

image.png

However way down at the bottom end of the Pond there were the resident pair of mute swans as well as lots of ducks and what appeared to be coots.

image.png

Closer we went and yes there were some mallard ducks as well as the most coots I have ever seen at the park.

They were standing on the white ice.

The swans were in water. I thought this was a bit odd as to why there was exposed water that was not frozen.

image.png

Being winter time, the swans don't mess around and the seagulls are wary of them.

The ducks though were game on to be fed.

If you see the bottom of the photos there is a gap in the stone work, that is due to there being an water flow inlet that tops up the pond, that flowing water had kept the water from being frozen.

image.png

Do you see the noisy Pomeranian duck! I think he is related to Dafty.

image.png

I tried to entice the coots and a couple of moorhens towards me to get some food.

I was semi successful and then the food was finished, well the aquatic birds bird food was finished.

image.png

I still had some for the land based birds. So it was time to go exploring to see where to put their food.

image.png

I actually forgot that where I wanted to go, meant traipsing over the grass to there!

image.png

Ah well shoes do dry right enough! In those woods was where I feed the ravens, robins, magpies, pigeons, jackdaws, thrushes and other wee birds that take the food!

image.png

Do you see the sky, well there is a touch of blue fighting to come out!

image.png

There is it, now that I have decided to think about going home, of course it brightens up.

image.png

Tree shots of course can be majestical in my eyes in wintertime. Today was no exception.

image.png

They are in all there naked glory not afraid to display their bumps and warts!

image.png

Don't you just love the snow sitting atop the limbs, I love it and I have left this picture until last.

From here of course I went shopping and then home for a warm coffee!

image.png

This post is of course for #wednesdaywalk which was started by the wonderful @tattoodjay.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!
