Here are some scenes from a hidden lake preserve for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay
Lots of yellow flowers were blooming and they had matching butterflies on them. I believe this is a cabbage yellow butterfly.
Meanwhile in the hidden lake there is a bigfoot taking a bath...
The lake is quite the spa treatment for the bigfoots. All the lily pads are in full bloom.
They were all in perfect shape. The only thing missing is a nice bullfrog sitting on the lily pad next to the flower. I heard quite a few in the reeds but didn't see them out amongst the lily pads.
The dragonflies were everywhere though. I managed to catch one hovering in place looking for a fly to attack.
The water in this hidden lake is quite clear and you can see the fish swimming around in an underwater paradise. I saw a large bass but wasn't fast enough to get a photo. These bluegills are easy to spot though.
Now for the birds. Here is a nice loud jay off in the distance. He only let me get one shot before flying off.
These lakes have tons of these red-winged blackbirds next to them. They are always posing for the camera.
Song sparrows are another common sight next to any prairie/lake area.
