It is more fun in Paseo De Santiago! | Iligan City, Philippines

I am not a historian but I would like to tell a historic event on #WednesdayWalk about my travel to Paseo De Santiago. I have been to one place that tells about Philippine history and yet it seemed like I have traveled to many parts of the Philippines.

Paseo de Santiago is one of the fantastic places to visit in Santiago, Iligan City with an area fronting the sea and offering an amazing view I could see that the place is very popular mostly with many teenagers, tourists, families, and groups of different ages.

When I arrived at the place, I have taken a leisurely walk along its soothing bay. Along the pathways are well-landscaped gardens, and tall and verdant trees that made the place a pleasant location to unwind.

And that, the sight of the breezy seawater was indeed a breathtaking experience that perfectly complemented the scenic view.

One of the highlights of my visit was reminiscing about the significant events and important matters in the Philippines.

Just like the huge Hollywood landmark in Los Angeles, California, it has a large still structure of the Philippines in all caps.

The remarkable sign become popular for every traveler to take pictures of the PHILIPPINES sign in Paseo de Santiago.

The structure was very inviting so I had taken a candid pose in front of it, while I was surrounded by the sea background, the minimal plants, and the Philippine flag on its side. And I have taken candid poses as I took a great walk at the place.

Besides the area was a big display of the Philippine Map on the ground. At first, I did not notice it but as I captured the ground, I figured out Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao on the cemented ground with faded paints.

Every Filipino knows about the battle between Magellan and Lapu-Lapu. As much as I wanted to tell a historic event, I am not a historian and all I know is that Lapu-Lapu defended Mactan Island in Cebu. And then they both died but no one could figure out who defeated Lapu-Lapu.

So here is now the structure of Lapu-Lapu I have seen in Paseo De Santiago. And I have also taken a selfie beside it.

Although I am not in Cebu, still I am grateful that I have visited and roamed around feeling the moment as I took a picture of the historic remembrance standing still in the ground of Paseo De Santiago as it was surrounded by a soothing sea.

Other things that captured my attention were the Philippine Jeepney and the Kalesa.

They were both colorful and I love to take a pose and captured quick snaps. There were a lot of people so I waited for some time so I could enjoy a wonderful place.

Jeepney is like a national vehicle here in the Philippines for anyone who has no private cars and indeed many of them are being used as a means of transportation.

And then the Kalesa, which is considered an old two-wheeled ride was the primary mode of transportation during the Spanish era. This ride is driven by a horse but the Kalesa displayed in PaseI de Santiago as well as the jeepney was just a statue.

And as I walked all around the area, I noticed that many travelers were also enjoying the fantastic scenery as everyone was taking in the view.

As I have mentioned on my previous travels, it is also made of a stunning and elegant baroque facade and every intricate detail was a sight to behold, and I spent some time marveling at its beauty and historical significance.

Here are the beautiful structures that made an awe-inspiring experience as I visited every corner of the place.

Meanwhile, I stopped and sat down at one of the shaded picnic areas surrounded by shrubs and greenery.

I took some quick snaps afterward and enjoyed a sumptuous meal of local delicacies bursting with taste from one of the food.

Of course, taking pictures all around with these candid poses made my day and at the same time while having some fun. So here are my selfies before going home.

I took many photos elsewhere. Perhaps the view was very satisfying and how I wish I could step here once more. How I wish I was able to take the sunset but it was a bit gloomy when I visited Paseo de Santiago. Still, I was fascinated by the serene atmosphere, the scenic view, and the wonderful experiences for myself.

And, it was a delightful, exciting, and unforgettable experience with a blend of the admirable beauty of the location and the perfect ambiance for Philippine cultural heritage. It made my day and I went home with a big smile and a cheerful heart.
