You may have already noticed that I am a big fan of various competitions. It would be foolish to participate in a competition without hoping to win, that's for sure. But, on the other hand, such participation is also an opportunity to show your photos and tell something which can be interesting for others.

For the top picture, my choice was for the horizontal shot. Such pictures usually look better on the site. However, this time I personally like the second picture most. In my opinion, the road leading to the mill makes the whole picture more picturesque, gives it a certain feeling of antiquity.

But it is time to get down to the matter and tell you about the object of my walk.
These ruins of the mill are a landmark in Kohtla-Järve, probably the youngest city in Estonia. It received the status of a city in 1946, 75 years ago, although, of course, villages and settlements on its current territory have been around for a long time. It is a city of miners and is not particularly beautiful. It consists of five separate parts that once arose next to oil shale mines and open pits. There are not many historical sites and landmarks in Kohtla-Jarve but they still are.
This mill once belonged to an owner of the farm. Now there is no farm there, the city swallowed it up, but the ruins of the mill remained.

I have found a picture which shows the inner parts of such a mill, and a video showing how it worked. How could we live without the Internet before? The video is in Russian, but the principle of operation is shown properly, so it will be clear anyway. The links can be found under the picture.
