Lunchtime in Huelva

Hours and hours on the road, watching different landscapes and checking from time to time the GPS indications, making plans, choosing destinations to rest, asking for food or water from the passenger in the back seat, being a music DJ for the trip, shifting the turns of driving, getting sometimes lost when we miss an exit on the highway (not lost, but driving more kilometres to have an opportunity to go back to the right path)... All of this, and more, was part of the travelling experience we took at the beginning of this year. I posted already some of our destinations, but there are many more to come. The places where we stayed or just stopped to spend a few hours are coming to our blockchain without an exact order. They come depending on the inspiration that visits me.

Today is Wednesday, a day when I usually post (or used to post) our walks, from home or places we went during our trip. Why Huelva (Spain) is coming today to my blog? I guess because of the clear day with a blue sky that we have got today to enjoy. The same as that day when we stopped in Huelva to take a rest and have lunch before reaching Portugal.

The night before we slept in Cádiz and the next day, after taking another walk and breakfast we continued toward Sevilla and later, Lisbon. Sevilla was in the plans, but I was thinking rationally. If we stop there I would like to visit many places and a few hours would not be enough. It would be better to visit it on another occasion, dedicating more time to knowing all the beauties of the city. Quick change of plans - we will just drive by it and don't stop until Huelva.

It was very easy to enter the city. Underground parking lot - tick in the box. I set again navigation on the phone just to know how to get to the city centre as this church was not actually in the strict centre. The walk started ;D

We passed by a few other churches too, but don't ask me about their name. I didn't stop to see as the goal was to reach the nucleus of Huelva. We have never been here and also I knew nothing about the city. It's not an exaggeration, I still don't know its history... I just saw what I could in that little walk which finished with a short lunch before leaving.

You can also guess, there were wide but also those narrow streets I like in the cities, shops, people and life, as it is normal everywhere. Nothing out of this world but it a was pleasant walk.

I also loved the facades of some buildings and the tiles on them. And that lovely little balcony was an extra detail. As you can notice in some of the photos, Christmas decoration was still around. I am sure that during the evening it was beautiful to walk there around, but we can't do everything in one day. We had to reach our next booked place until evening.

We arrived at the main square, which was surrounded by nice buildings (one of them the building with the tiles on the facade) and was adorned by little bars, a huge Christmas tree (made of little lamps), the statue of Columbus and a street market. Yep, I found those street markets almost in every single city we visited 😂

You know, those stalls were offering similar stuff as the other markers, crafts, jewellery, decoration... but the last stall in one row was different. It was selling some super sweet shoes.

Apparently, these are leather, handmade shoes from the workshop "Taller La Encina". They had leather bags and belts too, but for me, the most interesting articles were the boots. The green and the blue ones, though I would not mind having one pair in any other colour.

To remind me, we were not there to purchase things from a street market! The purpose of stretching our legs with a walk through the city centre and getting some food intake made us move. There were many little restaurants and bars, and even though some of them were still closed we found in the end a suitable one for our lunch.

The road was waiting again for us, getting more excited that soon we would reach Portugal!
