After posting about Laurel Lake a week ago, am back to explore the 500 acres around the preserve..
LAUREL LAKE PRESERVE post ... @manorvillemike/laurel-lake-preserve
Didn't know this preserve was so large with diverse mature growth trees. Along with rolling terrain, kettle hole ponds swamps and bogs... A naturalist dream...
OK lets get started....
Nice wide, leaf covered path to start off on...
Took a short cut down a gravel road to where trail continues..
Some of these trails were originally made by the native Indians centuries ago...They had gotten worn down by foot traffic and weather erosion...
Small kettle hole pond, about an acre big... This is the area where the 10,000 year old Glacier had stopped advancing southward.. Large chunks of glacier ice remained to create these hollowed depressions, with the deeper ones filling with ground level water.
Green grass covers the path in an opened area...
There is suppose to be 14 miles of trails in the preserve and I'm starting to feel I have walked most of them...
Managed to walk all the way to the north border where if comes out on North road..
