Island of Krk - a golden paradise of warmth and beauty

Good day, my beloved friends!
I hope you're having a wonderful weekend so far.
I'll write a post for #wednesdaywalk on this bright and beautiful Saturday.

I'm making an effort to update more frequently, but you know how job and life sometimes get in the way. :)

Krk is a city rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage, with a 3000 year history. The town of Krk's tourist offer makes it an appealing and easily accessible destination for many active and educational vacationers.

The town of Krk, which is the island's administrative center and has the most developed infrastructure and economy, is located in the southwestern section of the island. It is situated in a large bay adjacent to Puntarska draga, the island's most famous bay. Malinska is only 11 kilometers away, Punat is 13 kilometers away, and Rijeka is around 40 kilometers away. Krk is a city with a well-developed offer of appealing amenities for people of all ages, which is why it is regarded as one of the island's most important cities, contributing to the island's valuable cultural and historical heritage. The city used to be walked around by Romans, Venetians, Napoleon's administrators, and Frankopan princes.

The island is accessible by land via the 1430 meter Krk bridge. Construction on this bridge began in 1976, and it was officially opened on July 19, 1980.

The bridge's most notable feature was the 390-meter-long concrete arch connecting the mainland to the islet of Sveti Marko, which at the time of construction was the world's longest such bridge.

In the summer, the bridge can see up to 28,000 vehicles in a single day.

The cathedral on the west side and the Frankopan fortress on the south side form a barrier around this area. The name Kamplin is thought to come from the Roman word campus, which means "field," which explains why it was affiliated with the Roman army's training grounds. Still, the name of the Piazza is most likely derived from the Italian term campanile, which means bell tower. The castle tower on Kamplin can also be identified as the original bell tower of the cathedral, which dates from the 12th century.

This region hosted knightly spear shooting tournaments in the Middle Ages.

As a result, today's square is also known as Na Ciljah (after the Venetian al Bersaglio). During the actual annexation of the island by the Venetians in 1480, such tournaments were seen, and the first providur Antonio Vinciguerra recalls them in his report under the name Palio. The practice of staging two games a year to boost the locals' battle readiness has remained. Kamplin used to be home to a public municipal office and a providor's apartment, which only adds to the significance of this area in the city's history.

There was a monastery on Krk at Jurandvor at the time, and his monks learned that Croatian King Zvonimir was planning a visit to the island of Krk and the monastery in Jurandvor. The people of the Baka Valley had been preparing for this royal visit with a grand ceremony. When the time came, the Croatian fleet arrived on Kvarneri, and King Zvonimir, accompanied by his prefects, admirals, generals, and other statesmen, arrived on the greatest sailing ship. The inhabitants of Krk hailed them as they arrived: Your Majesty King Zvonimir and gentlemen prefects, generals and admirals, long live, long live!

The musicians performed magnificently, and the dancers performed traditional dances from the area. Then they all traveled to the Jurandvor monastery, where King Zvonimir endowed it with a construction site from his vast estate, where the royal church of St. Lucy now stands. He had his royal symbol, the Croatian coat of arms, installed on the entryway, and plaques containing Glagolitic documents concerning the grant will be erected adjacent to the altar.

The next day, King Zvonimir moved behind the hill Triskavac (= Gromovnik), where he built his palaces in the middle of the island, which are now known as Zvonimir's walls (Zminiverova Kuore). Then he traveled to the hill of Triskavac, where he assembled a national assembly of all the people of Kr on the saddle of Boyna under a great oak tree, where they constructed him a royal throne in stone, which is now known as the bishop chair. This was the last Croatian ruler on Krk to speak the indigenous Bodul language (Chakavian), and following him, foreign rulers on the island spoke foreign languages, such as Hungarian, Italian, German, and Vlach, until now.

But let us not limit ourselves to discussing history and previous events. Allow me to show you photos of the sea, which is one of Croatia's finest treasures.
How many tourists from all around the world visit us each year, some of whom return year after year?
The sea and beaches are clean, the summer sun is warm on the skin, and the food and wines are great.
Croatia provides you with all of this.

You may experience all four seasons in Croatia, in addition to the Mediterranean environment on the coast, which will be displayed in all its grandeur. The lovely coastline and the icy interior of Croatia are sometimes separated by only one mountain. Yes, you read it correctly; if you travel by automobile to the sea, you will notice a significant difference in climate from one side of Velebit and the other, where the Adriatic Sea awaits you beyond the mountain. The Mediterranean shore and the snow-capped mountains of Croatia are neighbors.

Croatia is a hit destination that attracts tourists from all over Europe and beyond.

The photo of this curving road is probably one of the more interesting, if not my favorite. Can you blame me? :)

“Advice from the Ocean: Be shore of yourself. Come out of your shell. Take time to coast. Avoid pier pressure. Sea life’s beauty. Don’t get so tide down on work that you miss out on life’s beautiful waves.” – Unknown

I’m curious. What is it that you picture when you think of the sea?
Stay safe my friends xoxo
