Wintergasse Augsburg

My Wednesday Walk this week took me through Augsburg again. More precisely, through a side alley of Maximilianstrasse. Here are probably the oldest buildings still standing in the city.
First of all, this is the Hl. Grab Gasse. This is a small, short alley, only about 50 metres long. This then leads into Dominikaner Gasse.
In Dominikaner Gasse is Augsburg's former Roman Museum. However, the building has been under renovation for years after it was discovered that the statics were no longer safe. Whether it will reopen is written in the stars. But the building is impressive.
From here, the route continues parallel to Maxstrasse in the direction of Moritzplatz. Here, too, are small cross streets that are barely passable.
The alley is on a high level and there are small paths on the sides leading to the lower old town. Some of these do not look very trustworthy and are also very steep.
At some point, this alley then becomes Wintergasse. I like this street because our fraternity house is here.
This is the clubhouse of my student fraternity. After the war, the former owner signed the house over to the association and now it is managed by us.
There are several function rooms in the basement, which we also use as members. Once a week there is also a regulars' table there.
A location in the middle of the city where drinks don't cost much.
And then you're already at Moritzplatz with the Moritzkirche.
These benches are new to me. I have never seen them before. But it's nice that something is being done for pedestrians. I hope these will stay until after Christmas.

Mein Wednesday Walk diese Woche führte mich wieder durch Augsburg durch. Genauer gesagt, durch eine Seitengasse der Maximilianstrasse. Hier sind wohl die ältesten noch vorhandenen Gebäude der Stadt.
Zunächst mal ist das die Hl. Grab Gasse. Das ist eine kleine kurze Gasse, mit nur ca. 50 Meter länge. Diese führt dann in die Dominikaner Gasse.
In der Dominikaner Gasse ist das ehemalige Römische Museum Augsburgs. Das Gebäude wird allerdings seit Jahren renoviert, nachdem man festgestellt hat, dass die Statik nicht mehr sicher ist. Ob es wieder aufmachen wird, steht in den Sternen. Das Gebäude ist aber schon beeindruckend.
Von hier aus geht es weiter parallel der Maxstrasse entlang Richtung Moritzplatz. Auch hier sind kleine Querstrassen, die kaum begehbar sind.
Die Gasse ist hoch gelegen und es gehen Seitlich kleine Wege in die Untere Altstadt. Teilweise sehen diese nicht sehr vertrauenswürdig aus und sind auch sehr steil.
Irgendwann wird diese Gasse dann zur Wintergasse. Ich mag diese Strasse, da unser Verbindungsvereinshaus hier ist.
Das ist unser Vereinsheim meiner Studentenverbindung. Nach dem Krieg hat der damalige Besitzer dem Verein das Haus überschrieben und jetzt wird es von uns verwaltet.
Im Keller sind mehrere Veranstaltungsräume, die wir als Mitglieder auch nutzen. Einmal die Woche gibt es dort auch einen Stammtisch.
Eine Lokation mitten in der Stadt in dem die Getränke nicht viel kosten.
Und dann ist man schon am Moritzplatz mit der Moriztkirche.
Diese Bänke sind mir neu. Ich habe sie noch nie vorher gesehen. Aber schön, dass man auch etwas für die Fussgänger tut. Ich hoffe diese bleiben auch bis nach Weihnachten.
