Chicago: a simple but amazing walk by the lake - Extra Bonus (XV)

Hello walkers and friends!

A simple walk, relaxing, but amazing and full of memories...
Another walk more and another post in the community #WednesdayWalk hosted by @tattoodjay in which to share our inspiring walks, paths and routes through different environments. And this time the walk is special, it is rather a memory of a beautiful and spectacular walk through one of the most emblematic cities.

This is about Chicago (what a surprise... irony) some of you know that I have written and shared a lot of photos about the windy city here on Hive, for many weeks I have published a series of posts about the city from different areas, perspectives and even heights. And it was about to end really, as I expressed it in a previous post, but I was missing two small details that I want to add as an "extra bonus".

The first one is this, a simple walk by a lake, the best possible place there, Lake Michigan. A lake that becomes part of the same urban environment, that freezes during the winter and that during the summer becomes a great beach area for everyone. During the rest of the year it is also great to walk there, especially if it is a good and sunny day, many citizens go for a walk and enjoy a bit of everything, the livelier atmosphere, the lake, nature and also the views of the city of course.

Because if I have made something clear in each and every one of the posts, it is that Chicago is the city of views, and the combination between the blue of the lake and the skyline of those emblematic buildings is unique and special. Special like this walk that I remember so well.

A fresh air, yes, but already pleasant because the sun was hot, and crossing Lake Shore Drive through one of the underground bridges we arrived at Oak Beach, the first beach, so to speak, the one closest to the center itself, you can walk and practically above we have the famous Hancock Tower. And much more.

We don't stop but we go north along the lake, along a path sometimes crowded with people playing sports, with baby carriages, dogs, bicycles or simply walking. While other people just have fun playing volleyball. And in the meantime more people arrive enthusiastic about the sunny day through other overhead bridges that also connect with other of the beaches that we are arriving at.

We look at the blue lake all the time, but further on there is also green, there is green grass and some trees, it seems strange that all this place is in the city itself, right? Even a shaped boat restaurant that we already mentioned, in which there is hardly any room during the hottest days of summer. Or another curious place where you can even have a picnic or enjoy the Chicago sun that is not always present.

And as we turn around, we acquire new perspectives from far again when we turn around, and we are lucky to be accompanied at that moment by many seagulls that fly over the scene, animated and happy, they also seem to enjoy their own walk through the sky. And we go far, along, towards a ledge or concrete small dock...

We get further away and there are fewer people, more distance and the buildings seem smaller, they are less visible, but when we turn we see the same panorama again and we continue to be impressed, as if it were a postcard, that image will always stay with me not only in the camera.

We look at the sea, we stop to reflect, to close our eyes and to enjoy being outdoors. And as we approach the shore, that sweet water will welcome us, and even will refresh our walking feet in that clear and calm water. (Remember we are still in a big city!).

Concrete, sand, water and trees are intermingled in the same path. Everything seems to merge without any problem, it gives us the air, not the sea, we must remember that it is not the sea although it seems so but a great lake, one of the Great Lakes, Lake Michigan on the horizon.

And as always behind the city of Chicago with its impressive skyline that we can enjoy from all places, distances, perspectives and also in a simple but amazing walk.

Thanks for reading! Have an amazing and memorable day.

Happy Wednesday!
