A long walk to and through the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne, Australia.

Want to see a heap of gorgeous flowers? Come join me as I walk you through the Botanic Gardens, here in Melbourne.

I love flowers. They make me feel happy. I can't tell you the name of most of the flowers in this post but I've happily arranged them in a gradient of colour (kind of) so it's a pleasant experience to scroll through them with me.

There were tiny ones, like these:

And strange looking ones, like these (commonly known as kangaroo paw birds of paradise):

And photogenic ones like this one below. I think it's a paper daisy?

This was some sort of ancient native plant I've seen before. This is a close(r) up to see all the pretty colours inside the seed pod thing.

And then further away to get context.

While we're zoomed out, check out these different coloured plants all playing nicely together. (I think plants could teach us a thing or two about getting along despite our differences).

Then zoomed in so you can see this red flower up close. Although, I can now see it wasn't as clear as I had hoped!

Onward! To our next native: some kind of flowering Eucalypt (I think!), one that I don't think I've ever seen before but looks very flowering gum ish.

Another pretty pink flower. I think pink is making a comeback in my life; I keep falling for pink flowers everywhere I go. (I was almost in tears over a pale pink oversized rose thing in Queenstown last week; it was so beautiful!)

Here's another cutie. This one has a heart of gold. (Get it? 😉)

And then there were flowers that had so many flowers on each stem it was hard to know what to actually call the "flower" bit. I loved the diversity of what we saw today.

And possibly one of my faves for the morning/day/week: this white, unknown (to me) flower. I don't know why I like certain flowers more than others, but for some reason I really like this one. A lot.

Then we found ferns, fabulous ferns. I love me a good fern 😁

It had friends! Lots of friends. I liked its friends too 😄

Then we came across this beauty. Not a flower, not a fern, but a f*cking big tree! I immediately wanted to hug it. So I did. Twice in fact. I realised that because I'm very energy sensitive and we're staying right in the middle of the city and we're walking on city streets every day, I'm picking up so much stuff from everyone and everything around me. I felt like this huge tree was ready and able to just take a whole lot of that off me; it could handle it because it's so big. I could have hugged it (i.e. had my heart pressed against its strong trunk) for hours.

Towards the end of our time inside the Gardens we went into the (Ian Potter) Children's Garden. It was delightful! There were many lovely things in there but this cutie got my attention 👇

This is what the morning walk (from 9 am 'til about 1 pm with a break for lunch and shorter breaks for sore, overused feet!) looked like from and back to our accommodation.

Here's a close up of where all the flower and tree photos were taken.

This was the actual moving time and distance covered for this walk.

Though we went out again in for a bookstore shopping trip and mini dinner mission, so my total step count for the day went over 20K. Again 😂

Thanks to my walking partner, life partner and adventuring partner. I love travelling with you.

All photos inside the Royal Botanic Gardens were taken by me. Except the one of me hugging the tree, obvs 😅 That one plus this one above of the two of us were taken by the original selfie taker himself, @new.things. These photos belong to us and are not for re-use without express permission. The photos of the maps and the run data are screenshots from my phone courtesy of Garmin Connect. The fourth screenshot was also taken on my phone provided courtesy of the Qantas Wellness App.
