IN THE PORT AND BEYOND (Just another Wednesday Walk report)

This Wednesday started sunny ...

... but when around noon, I arrived in the small fishing port of the village called Liznjan, a place that I often visit in these Wednesday Walks and in general ...

... the sparse white clouds started forming a more consistent layer, able to subdue the strength of the sun.

The wind wasn't very strong ...

... but was strong enough to create a bit of waves and foam on the sea outside the inlet of the port ...

... and lift these colorful kites.

I followed the free aerial ballet for a half an hour or so ...

(Enlargeable)

... and I took plenty of photographs.

While the kites were gliding above the bay ...

... these firebugs (Pyrrhocoris apterus) were mating down on the ground, before my feet ...

... and, about 50 meters further ...

... some excavator machine was resting after the morning work.

My focus was shifting ...

(Enlargeable)

... between the sky ...

... and all the stuff down below.

(Enlargeable)

Stuff like old tractors and old friends.

There was plenty to photograph ...

... on land and above the sea.

After this kite - shot ...

... I came closer to the water ...

... to take a better look at the flowers ...

... that grew in between the coastal rocks.

This small lizard, the Podarcis siculus ...

... was quiet on the warm limestone.

After taking this portrait of some wild onion, don't know the exact species ...

... I walked about half a kilometer before taking another photograph. Here you can see a friend that was with me, walking through the tall grass.

This robber fly has caught some smaller fly.

This Emmelia trabealis moth was photographed on some juicy green plant hidden among the dry grass.

A bit later, while rambling across the meadow, I noticed this lovely little spider ...

... that was hanging under the leaf of the Dittrichia viscosa plant.

This grasshopper was photographed nearby ...

... on the same plant.

(Enlargeable)

I found this old skin of a pretty big four - lined snake (Elaphe quatuorlineata) ...

... on the terrain near the sea, covered with short vegetation.

As always in these walks on HIVE, the photographs are my work.
