One of my fondest memories during my college years was when we would go out to the then town proper of Baybay, Leyte. It has become a culture among college students of our university to reward ourselves after a grueling examination week. We would go out either to the school's beach area, gaze the shining stars and engage in a hilarious yet memorable conversations or off we went to the town proper for some barbecue goodness and to belt out our emotions.
There was a particular place where people go if they want to have fun, enjoy foods, drinks and karaoke. The place was called "Barbecuehan sa Pantalan". Barbecuehan was a cluster of restaurants built on bamboo stilts located at the side of the seaport. The main food served was barbecue.

I remebered this place to be so popular and full of life especially during weekends and after exams.
At present, Baybay has changed and became a city. The Barbecuehan sa Pantalan were long been demolished and now, in a way they revived the concept with the city's newly constructed Pantalan Foodcourt at the Boardwalk. This is one of the lastest attraction in Baybay City. It is located along the new reclamation area.
We had a chance to check out the place after making our visit and paying our respect to the souls of my beloved departed parents-in-law. The husband is from Baybay City.
To get to the place, we walked a few meters from the terminal going south, passing by Metro Mall. It is located at the end of the reclamation area.
We continued the walk and passed by this building. I still don't have an idea what this building is and what is its purpose. It's newly constructed and I love the color and design of this building.
As we continued our walk, facing south was the view of the vast reclamation area and the beautiful mountains in the background. The blue sky after a heavy downpour and the cottony clouds were reassuring. The sky looked more beautiful after a heavy rain. That building painted in white was where we were going.
While facing west, we saw the sun shining but a few clouds were slightly preventing it to shine brightly but the more this view looked heavenly.
We finally arrived at the place. There's a park perfect for strolling, relaxing or sunset viewing. Since it's newly constructed, it looks neat and clean. I think at night this place will also look good with the lights.
And perhaps, while at the park, you'll be amazed by the view of the majestic Mount Pangasugan.
We went up to the Boardwalk and see what they have there.
In the Boardwalk is a food court in front as you enter. There are food stalls and a large covered area full of tables and chairs where people dine.
We didn't try any food there since we just had our merienda at Jollibee. Maybe next time we come here, we'll make sure to dine in.
If you want to have a more relaxing dining, there are also tables and chairs at the sides where you can have a clearer view of the sea, the sky and the mountains.
At the back part, there are two gazeebos connected by boardwalks. Maybe after dining, one can choose to stay here for a while, savour the cool breeze from the sea, record some tiktok videos or just sit there and relax. 😁
We really enjoyed our walk here with the beauty of the sea, the sky, the city and the mountains. It brought back beautiful memories when I stayed in this city. First when I was a student at Visayas State University and when I had my first job here so I really consider Baybay City my second home.
If you happen to be in Baybay City, check this place out. It's new and very accessible. Experience an alfresco dining with their famous chicken barbecue and other Filipino dishes.
This has been my #WednesdayWalk. Thank you Sir @tattoodjay fo letting us share all walks in this community.
