Wednesday Walk
Not this Wednesday, nor last Wednesday - but the Wednesday before that! It was a week-long holiday here in the UAE for the celebration of Eid Al Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice) that the kids requested to go to the beach. Being July/August is the peak of summer where the temps could go as unforgivingly hot at 50℃ (122°F), we have not really gone to the beach in months!
That week though was different from what we normally experience. There were massive efforts of cloud-seeding that there were even heavy rains! In the UAE. In July.
Beach Time
So we finally decided to go and were already at the beach at 7am. There were dark rain clouds looming above us. Glad we came early otherwise we wouldn't have been allowed to enter the beach due to pandemic restrictions (capacity was lowered to 60%).
Mr. Mighty Sun didn't appear to be mighty at all! We were able to enjoy the beach without the worry of getting toasted because Mr. Sun was not successful in penetrating the thick clouds until mid-day.
The kids asked to stay for three hours!. I don't know why, but whenever we're at the beach, time seems to pass by slowly. Three hours seemed like five hours to me and guess what, the kids were still able to push for an extra half hour in the water!
The clouds, as thick as they were, did not really translate into heavy rains in our area. While it rained hard in other parts of the country, we only experienced very light drizzles. Oh, by light drizzle, I meant a few drops. :D
I was ready for the rain - I wrapped our stuff with plastic bags just in case it rained, but no. Well at least it wasn't hot and sunny!
Only the kids swam while hub and I chaperoned. Looking back, I regret not changing into my swimming suit and joined the kids. I'm not sure when we'll be able to go back here again.
