Hive has more diverse and numerous use cases than any other blockchain of which I'm presently aware, and it does a lot of things very well, indeed. One of these domains in which Hive excels exceedingly well is crowdsourcing/crowdfunding/fundraising - the collection and pooling of funds and resources from the local or global community for particular causes and purposes. Hive's implementation of this is actually far better than the more usual, conventional, better-known, and official means, and for a couple very significant reasons.
Hive is all about direct human-to-human connections and transactions, and because of this, people have the ability to assist others here directly, without any middleman, which means that it cuts out administrative overhead fees, and in the case of websites that specifically focus on crowdfunding, it cuts out fees entirely. Because of this, all funds raised can be utilized for the desired purpose, without loss.
Hive also allows us to circumvent the great many NGOs (non-governmental organizations) and non-profits that are nothing more than fronts for money laundering, that take people's well-intentioned money, to be used for undisclosed and undesired purposes. In other words, it allows us to use our resources to actually do good, and not just think we're doing good because we gave our money to a nice-sounding organization that says it will use the money for the purpose intended, with the reality being something very different.
On Hive there are many ways that successful crowdfunding could work. Specific fundraising posts and accounts could be created, posts could be set to pay out what is earned to particular beneficiaries, HBD could be collected and pooled then put into savings on fundraising accounts, allowing for the ability to have a sustainable divestment of funds each month for the desired purposes, just to flesh out a few possibilities, to give you an idea. This use case for Hive could indeed become huge, especially when people realize just how incredibly efficiently and effectively it can be done here.
This use case for Hive came into my mind this morning as I pondered how ongoing funding could be generated for particular open-source software projects that could immensely benefit everyone on the planet. There are some ridicuously passionate, sincere, dedicated, and skilled coders and programmers out there that are working to create and implement truly amazing projects for the good of humanity, but with little to no funds to do so. Many need to work full-time jobs, and can only devote what little and sporadic free time they have to their projects. I want to support those people in any way I can. So I'm tossing around the idea of creating something on Hive that could allow that to happen. I'll let it percolate for a bit, to see what coalesces.
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny Sunday, and one which I devoted almost entirely to Hive, first in my daily catch-up and tasks, and then later in putting together and writing the beast that is My 65th Sunday Weekly Hive Goals and Progress Update: Solid Growth in a Rather Mixed Week. I did take breaks for food (for myself and my kitten friend), and to walk around to take photos for this post, but my Sunday was very much a Hiveday.
I didn't finish and publish my Goals and Progress Update until around 1:30AM, and I crashed into bed almost immediately after publishing it. While I slept well, I didn't sleep nearly long enough, so while I feel good this morning, I'm definitely a little tired still. After a round of Hive tasks, mostly token management, I began writing this post even before I got out of bed. The Monday Leadership Council meeting is at 10:30AM, so I wanted to get it done before that.
It's just past 9:30AM now, and I still need to go make my superfood fire coffee, so it's a ideal time to end this post for the moment. I'll hopefully be able to get to my Hive catch-up very shortly. I deeply appreciate you all so much! Until tomorrow! Onward and upward, joyfully together! 😁🙏💚✨🤙
