[Eng+Spa] International Day of Archives + Día Internacional de los Archivos

It's Friday night, the power has just come back on, and my brother reminds me to post while he makes some hot lemonade. Until a moment ago it was raining, the weather was cool. The rain is good so that we can have a water supply, and it serves to cool off the heat, but it is a problem that the power lines we have are in such a precarious state that the power supply is cut as soon as it rains a little.

Anyway, my #life has been calm on this day, we are already starting the weekend, but in my case the difference is not much, I work from home every time we have electricity, and it is rare that I leave home. Anyway, it is better that I listen to my brother and rush a little to publish the record of the day, commenting on the ephemeris of #History for today.

Estamos en la noche del viernes, la electricidad acaba de regresar, y mi hermano me recuerda que publique, mientras que él prepara una limonada caliente. Hasta hace un momento estaba lloviendo, el clima estaba fresco. La lluvia es buena para que podamos tener suministro de agua, y sirve para refrescar el calor, pero es un problema que el tendido eléctrico que tenemos esté en tan precario estado que se corte el suministro eléctrico a penas llueve un poco.

En fin, mi #vida ha estado tranquila en este día, estamos ya comenzando el fin de semana, pero para mi caso no es mucha la diferencia, trabajo desde casa en cada momento que tenemos electricidad, y es poco frecuente que salga de casa. En fin, es mejor que haga caso de mi hermano y me apresure un poco a publicar el registro del día, comentando la efeméride de la #Historia para hoy.

Among the celebrations for today, I noticed that it was the 'International Day of Archives', a date established by #UNESCO, a body of the United Nations Organization, #UN, for education and culture. The date itself is relatively recent, since it was declared in 2008, but it refers to a much earlier date, since it was on June 9, but in 1948, that UNESCO established the creation of the International Council on Archives, with the purpose of defend the protection and conservation of documentary heritage, promoting the need for transparency and reliability of archives and records of events, all of which constitute material memory or historical support for the future of humanity.

Entre las celebraciones para hoy, noté que era el ‘Día Internacional de los Archivos’, una fecha establecida por la #UNESCO, órgano de la Organización de Naciones Unidas, #ONU, para la educación y la cultura. La fecha en sí es relativamente reciente, pues fue declarada en 2008, pero hace referencia una fecha muy anterior, pues fue en un 9 de junio, pero de 1948, que la UNESCO estableció la creación del Consejo Internacional de Archivos, con la finalidad de defender la protección y conservación del patrimonio documental, promoviendo la necesidad de transparencia y confiabilidad de los archivos y registros de eventos, todo lo cual constituye la memoria material o el soporte histórico para el futuro de la humanidad.

Personally, I have a certain attachment to the archives, I suppose you have noticed that I like to review history, so the archives are important things to me, also, during my university academic training, one of the things that I enjoyed the most was a semester when I had to investigate clothing and fashion in #Venezuela during the 17th century. It doesn't seem like a very exciting topic when you look at it from the outside for the first time, but I learned a lot from then and fell in love with the old National Historical Archive headquarters.

Well, I guess I'd better post at once, while the service is still running. I wish you that you are well and that we can read each other again another time.

En lo personal, tengo cierto apego a los archivos, supongo que habrás notado que me gusta revisar la historia, así que los archivos son cosas importantes para mí, además, durante mi formación académica universitaria, una de las cosas que más disfruté fue un semestre en que me tocó investigar sobre la vestimenta y la moda en #Venezuela durante el siglo XVII. No parece un tema muy apasionante cuando lo miras desde afuera por primera vez, pero aprendí mucho de ese entonces y me enamoré de la vieja sede del Archivo Histórico Nacional.

Bueno, supongo que es mejor que publique de una vez, mientras el servicio aún funciona. Te deseo que tú estés bien y que nos podamos leer de nuevo en otra oportunidad.
