We Are Alive! October 22nd, 2023 Bonus Day of the Festival

Because many of the people were celebrating the last great day on Sunday, we had the pleasure of enjoying a "bonus day". Even though we accounted the festival over, we wouldn't turn down the opportunity to worship and celebrate for an extra day.

It was tricky keeping the tent clean, especially after Sabbath. But overall it wasn't too bad. We were so grateful for a warm wood stove on this cold morning.

Got out of the tent early, while it was still quiet. I went to a place were I could access the web for a while (although the connection was spotty). I enjoyed the crisp morning air, and browsed my phone a bit.

Our neighbor was cooking up egg burritos and beef bacon and shared it with the entire camp. They disappeared as quickly as he made them. Delicious!

It was chilly, so the boys decided to start a campfire. The logs were big, so I brought over the kindle cracker and they had a lot of fun splitting logs with the mallot.

In the afternoon, we had another praise and worship session and teaching. It extended through most of the day and rolled right into the final pot-luck diner.

It looked like it was about to rain again and more cold weather, so after diner I rushed back to camp to split a bunch of wood for our wood stove in the tent.

Just after dark, I split all the wood and we had a full tote of fuel to keep us warm through the night.

That evening we visited the coffee house (though it had no coffee) to play some more Settlers of Catan. I taught several players how to win and discovered they were better than me at the game, even though I've been playing for many years. It just clicks for some people and they are naturally good at playing.

It was a fine conclusion to an excellent festival. We have all day tomorrow to pack up and leave, since it's only a few hours to get back home. That is one big advantage to staying close.

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin

We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.

No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Teach Your children Liberty from Tyranny

Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations.

Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books. I am an affiliate for Libertas Publishing, your purchase will help our family grow financially.
