We Are Alive! October 11th, 2023 The Adventure Continues

So here we are, waking up early in the bus, considering what we should do. The parts for the vehicle were arriving today and if everything goes well, we'll be back on the road later today.

While it was still dark, we woke up to a line of police cars driving onto the property for target practice - turns out the owner made a deal with local law enforcement to use the property for this purpose. All morning long we heard "pop, pop, pop" in the distance as they practiced their aim.

Our camping equipment came in handy this morning, as we set up a table and gas camp stove to make some breakfast. The breakfast burritos were pre-made, all was had to do was heat them up, making breakfast very easy.

While we were waiting for the parts and deciding our next move, the children explored a little and came up with a game to entertain themselves. They would climb up a dirt ramp and throw stones into various puddles, each having their own number of points. Children are so creative!

Lauren and I had a sit-down discussion about what to do next. I had budgeted money for gas to get to Arkansas and back again, but the majority of that budget was now going towards the new radiator and belt and installation. Gladly, considering the quick and generous service we received.

We also didn't know what else might be wrong with the bus. Are there any other surprises? I spoke with the kind man who was helping us, asking his opinion, and I suggested the options between returning to the previous campground (2.5 hours back) or continuing on 10 hours (probably two days driving) and arriving on Friday, a day later than we were planning. He said he wouldn't tell us what to do, but if it were him, stay closer to home. I played the two scenarios out in my mind and it became clear... we need to turn back.

We communicated with our friends in Arkansas and with our friend who owns the campsite in Michigan and made arrangements. We're celebrating Sukkot in Michigan this year!

The new radiator arrived (so fast!) and the belt and they both were installed quickly. These guys are really good!

We powered up the bus and it started!!! I settled the bill and our helpful crew sent us off, back towards Michigan.

A change of plans, but a course has been set. We're well prepared for a week plus of camping, plenty of food and supplies - and a functioning vehicle!

Onwards towards our Sukkot adventure!

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin

We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.

No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Teach Your children Liberty from Tyranny

Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations.

Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books. I am an affiliate for Libertas Publishing, your purchase will help our family grow financially.
