Last night a huge rainstorm came and flooded our street again - except this time it flooded to a level I haven't seen in a long long time.
It was dark, so I couldn't get any good photos, but the water was up beyond the sidewalk, spilling into our front yard. Meanwhile, our sump-pump well was full and overflowing, even with the pump running constantly!
Our window well in the basement filled up with water about half-way and we saw three toads floating at the top of the water! Water was squirting out and cascading out of the window, since it's not perfectly water tight. It was quite a site to behold! The window looked like an aquarium!
It was an amazing amount of water suddenly dumped on us and we are so thankful the power didn't go out. Had the power gone out, our basement would have been flooded with several inches of water for sure.
Thankfully it was a short downpour and once it was over, everything slowly drained away. The street was still flooded in the morning, but at least the basement was (mostly) dry.
Sorry for the lack of photos, since it was late and I didn't exactly reach for my phone, but things are back to normalcy now and the situation is under control.
Our head is still above water!
