These are apples that have been gathered from the ground rather directly from the trees, they are "deer apples", technically not for sale for human consumption because they are unpasteurized... but we've learned something important: they are perfectly fine apples, maybe a few bruises, but no reason to throw them away. The bruises are cut off and they are pasteurized when we make apple sauce! We are salvaging them, because if they don't sell, the orchard uses them as compost! These apples are left-over from the orchard's apple cider venture, so the apples sauce tastes a lot like sweet apple cider. YUM!
