Recurrent Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
Recurrent UTI is defined as either
• 3 or more episodes of uncomplicated UTI in 1 year, Or
• 2 or more uncomplicated UTIs in 6 months!
Out of 100 women around 5-10 suffer from recurrent UTI!
In 80% of the cases, the culprit organism is E. Coli bacteria!
Prophylactic prolonged antibiotics are the management for recurrent UTIs so far!
However, a vaccine is being developed that is showing promising results in preventing recurrent UTIs!
