Strategizing my hive goals for the next two months

I think it’s only the right thing do that I give the initiators of the newbies initiative all of their flowers. They deserve it all and more.

I bite my fingers for not learning about this initiative and striving to join it the very first time I joined hive, which is almost a year today. I wonder how many times they have done it.

I know I’m not the only hiver who started blogging here without setting goals. Now that I’ve said it out loud it feels so a stupid thing to do. Like, how can you get up and start walking without having anywhere in mind that you are walking to. Like a mad man. See how it looks when you think about it? I feel so embarrassed, and the fact that I had not thought about setting goals for my hiver journey and “saying it out loud” is even more embarrassing.
Enough of the scolding. Shake it off. You know better now.

At this point, I am sure we have established how setting goals is important and should not even come second to anything at the start of any form of endeavor. What do I want to achieve in this thing that I am starting? In other words, what are my goals for this? Asking yourself questions like this at the start of your endeavor not only gives you a proper sense of direction, but it also makes your life so much easier because you know exactly what to do and when to do it. Heck, you can even tell HOW to do what, if you plan well. Now you know where to start from. Setting goals.

What is goal setting to me?

As a person I hold goal setting in very high regard. Before I start anything I know exactly what I want to achieve from it at the end of the day. In fact, it is the goals that makes me start in the first place. I know what I want(my goals) so I only do things that would help me achieve them. So working with you, if you don’t have clear goals, if we can’t sit and talk about what you want to achieve at the end of the day, or if your goals are not obvious enough, then I am sorry you cannot have my 100%. ‘Cause I simply cannot waste my time.

Taking on projects without clear goals is simply wasting your time and others. And oh, I’m very experienced in this, I am a very curious young man who likes to learn the hard way. I’ve started so many things just to see how they work. Or just to feel how it’s like to be in certain positions. I use that to expand my horizons and gather firsthand experiences and be able to take many different perspectives at the same time in analyzing situations.

Watching my life from afar you might conclude I don’t have any aim. And that could not be any farther from the truth. I look at things from the grand scheme. Whereas most people would take just one project and that’s it for the rest of their lives, I gather firsthand experiences from many different things in preparation for the one thing I finally settled on and for more wisdom. If you’re not my kind of person you would find it a bit of a mental exercise grasping this or agreeing with me, but that’s totally fine.

Goal setting means seriousness, it means you mean business and that I would not wasting my time with you.

Why do you need to set SMART goals?

Specific Measurable Attainable Relevant and Time-bound. The full meaning of SMART here, if you did not know.

Your goals need to be Specific first all, to enable you have a clear sense of direction. For example, “I want to gain 50HP in two months”. This is a goal that is specific enough. This goal satisfies not only the first rule of the SMART goals, but also all the other four rules too. It is specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound.

Your goals need to be Measurable. If you set a goal for yourself there you should be something you use to measure your progress as far as that particular goal is concerned. So you can be able to tell if you’re making progress or not. There should be something you can use to determine your progress.

Your goals should be Attainable. Don’t set unrealistic goals for yourself. An unrealistic goal for example, would be to say that you want to have 100K hive power through your author rewards alone in one month. While it’s good to dream big and all that, a goal like this one is practically impossible. Be realistic in setting your goals. Set attainable goals.

Your goals should be Relevant. Set goals relevant to your dreams. Goals that would help you achieve a particular dream of yours. As I mentioned earlier, your goals are the building blocks to achieving your dreams. So the goals you set should be relevant to achieving those dreams.

Your goals should be Time-bound. How long will it take to achieve the goal. What is the amount of time needed for this goal to be achieved. When you set goals you need to set timelines for those goals. From when to when do you work on this goal? The goal should be achieved by the end of said period of time. That’s how to set goals. There should be timelines on them.

What are your goals as regards your Hive power, your followers, your engagement, your consistency, and any other goals as a newbie here on Hive?

In the next two months I want to gain 100 more hive power to the hive power I already have now. I already plan to improve my engagement on hive and the newbies initiative will see to it that it really does drastically improve with the regular and periodic newbies tasks that would be given us. My improved engagement will in turn drastically improve my followers. I want to gain 20 more followers in the next two months. I will interact with more people making more acquaintances and friends. For starters, I will publish at least 3 posts every week, including 3speak videos which will enable me broaden my audience. A number of these goals are quantitative goals so I can easy measure my progress and put in more work if needed.

Other goals I have on hive is to have at least 20 different hive-engine tribe tokens in my portfolio each worth at least 5$. I will achieve this by using 50% of all my HBD author rewards to buying tribe tokens on hive-engine. When it comes to the tribe tokens I am much particular those with game utilities behind them.

Analyze the goals above, what makes them SMART GOALS?

Gaining 100HP in the next two months is specific. This can easily be measured with the amount of HP in my hive power. I can attain this goal by posting consistently at least 3 times weekly and interacting with other bloggers. It’s relevant to my success on hive. It also has a timeline on it which is two months.

Also, when it comes to my followers, I have a specific number that I want to achieve so I can measure my progress. It’s also realistically attainable because the number is in my opinion very reasonable. It is also relevant to my growth on hive and does also have a timeline.

I will use 50% of all my HBD author rewards in a week to buy hive-engine tribe tokens with gamified utilities. This is specific enough. Easily measurable with how much I have at any particular time. Also attainable by buying consistently with a definite amount. Relevant to my growth, and with a timeline of two months period.

What strategies do you want to put in place to achieve your goals?

I am not just making these goals up because of my participation in the newbies initiative. These are personal goals I have always had but never really thought much about them or said them out loud before. This particular task just enables me to share it.
One of the main strategies I want to use to ensure the success of these goals is becoming an active 3speak (video) content creator. I have already made a few posts on 3speak and 3shorts. That was me getting myself familiar with the video content creation on 3speak. I learned a great deal, both the technical side and the nontechnical side. I learned how 3speak works and the difference 3speak and 3shorts. All videos 80seconds long or under should be posted on 3shorts. And videos longer should not be posted there but rather 3speak.
How this is a strategy is that, it can be quite tiring and mentally-stressing writing blog posts. So in my quest to achieving my goals I will not get myself worn out. I would be creating video contents alongside as it is fun to do and does not require so much mental effort as compared to writing quality blog posts.
I plan on hosting a talk show weekly, which will be a prerecorded podcast featuring personalities here on hive. Details of this will come in a dedicated post.

Another strategy is make posts from 3 sources each week. One about a personal topic, one from contests or writing prompts and the other being the video content. This will lessen the mental stress of having to always come up with content ideas, and channel the energy into creating the content rather than thinking about it.

It’s only right that I pay the due to the initiators of this wonderful program, the hive learners community team, under the leadership of @starstrings01. More grease to your elbow sir.
Special thanks to my team leader @depressedfuckup of team 2.
