Source Of Income

In the course of living our lives, we have to feed, clothes ourselves and have a roof over our heads and these are the basic needs for humans. The way to be able to afford these needs is by working and all over the world, there are a variety of jobs that one can do in order to earn a living to be able to provide basic needs. Even with the availability of different jobs, new jobs spring up everyday ranging from the usual 9-5 to remote jobs to part-time jobs and so on.

In the past, 9-5 jobs were the real deal as it was what everyone got educated for. There's the admiration and respect attached to the concept of someone working in an establishment 9-5 everyday and even now it hasn't quite faded. People still desire to have a professional career that involves the stereotypical 9-5 and many love it.

Though a lot of people have their reservations about having just a single professional career, it is not really as bad as they paint it out to be. A lot of people will talk about how it's better to be your own boss and not take orders from any superior but they usually tend to forget that not everything works for everyone. A lot of individuals are successful entrepreneurs and are seemingly making it by being a boss of their own but it does not mean that everyone has what it takes to be a boss and not just any boss but a successful boss.

It is in a bid to try their hands at owning their own establishment that people become entrepreneurs on the side. In my country, professional medical doctors that work for the government also own private hospitals on the side and this is a common thing now because it seems like they're not being paid well enough that they have to look for an alternate source of income which then affects their efficiency in their main career because more of their attention would be on bringing their private hospitals up to standard instead of doing their job in the office that they applied to work in.

This has caused a lot of inefficiency and nonchalant behavior in the hospitals. This also applies to other establishments, not just in government organizations where people run something different on the side in a bid to make more money while actively neglecting their main source of income.

I'm not against having a side hustle or running multiple things at the same time, but there is only so much that we can do as humans and efficient multitasking is difficult to achieve. I am a fan of picking things up one at a time, do one thing for a while and see where it takes me and then if it peaks my interest I can start an entirely different career from the one I am used to but I cannot do two things at the same time because I fear that I wouldn't do any of them right. And I really hate being rushed and disorganized, especially when I'm trying to juggle two or more things together with my main source of income which would depend greatly on my skills and mental health.

It has always been said to pick what you know how to do best and do it and it definitely applies to our careers also.

Pick what you know and stick with it for as long as you want, there is no rush and there's always space for you to start a new path in a different direction entirely.
