PE experiences during my school life

PE or PT class is one of most favorite period for students because it is the time they play around in the grounds, some exercises and then any kind of sports. I honestly think, PE is very important which keeps you active and teaches you many other lessons too.

In my school life, I was more of a bookish student. However, I do enjoy sports in recess and gives my 100% in PE period too. I am talking about the time I had in Indian School when we were in Nepal. I studied there from 4th to 7th grade. When back in Pakistan, there was no PE class. So, I had PE class experience in Nepal only and it was awesome. We used to have a PT uniform, both shirt and pant in white with white joggers. It is strictly required to be in white uniform on PE day. In 4th & 5th grade, we were not allowed to play any sports a lot, just taught some basics but spent more time in exercises. I remember one of my performance with the team which we performed on Annual day. We were around 50 kids, grabbing the ball in our hands and moving it around on “Buffalo Soldier” song. My elder bros used to make fun of me on this thing but I loved it, the rehearsal and planning which took around a month. It teaches us discipline, team work and how to coordinate with each other, it was all taught by our PE teacher.

Real Sports began in 6th grade when we were given more time for football and cricket. Well, I choose these two sports for myself, others have choice for many other sports like volleyball, basketball. Our PE teacher used to give sessions and coaching on getting better in football and Cricket but I was not really good in it, still tried my level best but unfortunately, not get selected in for tournament. In 7th grade, I got selected in for football team. I was very much excited and confident but we lost that match and got out of the tournament early. In football, we just have few minutes to prove ourselves how good we are in handling the ball and I failed in it. My bros used to make fun of it as well, I tried to kick the ball twice but ball ran through me with useless kicks. I know it was a funny moment to watch for others. After that I was sure that sports is not for me lol

One funny incident which I remember is: we had PE class just before break time so it was like a bonus, we were playing football and me along with one of my friend got stuck in the mud and our cloths were all dirty. After recess, we were thrown out of the class due to dirty cloths and as a punishment, we were handed over to PE teacher for the rest of the day. We took this punishment as a compliment but we were unaware of what was waiting for us. We thought we will be provided with football or will join others who are having PE class to play with them but PE teacher had other plans. First we were asked to run in the ground for half an hour and if we stop, time will keep on increasing. Later, we were asked to play in the football match as referee, kept running on the line. Then, joined small kids in their exercise class. It became the worst nightmare for us and it was a lesson too. Too much of PE is not good for health lol. I don’t have any achievement or extraordinary thing which I did in PE class to share other than what I already shared. However, I think PE/PT class is necessary and proper physical education should be given to students not just in terms of sports but in other ways as well which would be beneficial in lifelong healthy habits.
