A Bad Experience With The Rain.

I love it when it rains and I am indoors than being outside and be drenched by it. The result of a heavy rain directs the weather to change into a cool one as that is what I enjoy most than experiencing heat everywhere. For the past few days now, the heat I have been experiencing is more like being in hell as I kept sweating all over my body. I just keep pouring water on my body while staying naked because it makes me sick feeling heat. The rain fell last night and it brought a relieving moment for everyone as we all slept peacefully. Sincerely, I love the rainy season but I detest being caught by it outside and would see mud everywhere. At this period, one would be careful not to put on some clothes, especially white colour except you are in your personal car because there is no how you would escape the mud not touching part of your clothes.

Another thing is that rain brings good times, but when it comes as a result of poor timing, your plans would get ruined. I have been beaten by rain so many times, right from childhood till date, but there is one that happened recently that can never be erased from my memories because it was the worst experience that almost brought the thought of death to me.

It was on a Friday evening, last year in September. I craved snacks and Ice cream and decided to get them at the eatery which is about 15-20 minutes drive to the place. I had no option but to go out that day because whenever I am craving something so badly, I will get it except I have no money, but this day, there was enough to get me meat pie and ice cream, but seeing the weather, it was so cloudy. I stood by the window, looked up to the sky, calculated my time and concluded the rain would not start before I go and return, not knowing what will be waiting for me.

I never heard that once it rains heavily in the city where I am, there is always flood everywhere that has claimed lives and properties. If I had known, I wouldn't have stepped out to satisfy my cravings. I dressed up that evening around 5 pm and took a cab to the particular eatery I was going to. As soon as I entered and the driver took off, the rain started falling so heavily that it shocked everyone in the car because no one expected it so soon, including me. I managed to run inside the eatery with my clothes wet because the driver could not enter but parked by the roadside.

I got my snacks and stood for some minutes for the rain to subside, and after a while, it started reducing. I called a bike man to take me home since I could still manage with the little drops from the sky. The bike man billed me high but I never minded because I wanted to get home on time instead of staying outside as it was already getting dark. Besides, no one knows what the rain would do again and it was the best time to leave such an area as I was already scared too. We started moving, then the rain started again, this time around, it was getting too much and there was no place to park as some areas were dangerous. We managed to keep going until we got to a point, there was flood around the place. The man said he could have tried his luck but he wasn't familiar with the area as there might be pits around and the water already covered the whole road, except for some persons who were familiar passed through the flood.

At that point, I was beginning to get scared but this man kept assuring me he would take me home. The last route he thought of in mind, when we got there, was a no-go area. The road was flooded with rain, and we saw people dropping off their bikes and walking. I saw a tall man and the rain has reached a little higher than his waist. That means as short as I am, they won't even see my head if I should get down and start walking in the water 😂

There was an open river by the left and right hand side of the road and the way the water was gushing into the river scared me more. Those who have cars managed but were stuck in the flood as the water entered and people were screaming and afraid too, especially knowing there was a river and also opened because part of the fence used to demarcate it has been broken down.

The bike man stopped for a while, I could see him thinking of what to do and knowing there was no other route except this. That means, if we do not pass through, then I might have to find somewhere to sleep, perhaps a hotel around the area, but I wasn't with my phone or card for the transaction. I only went with my purse thinking I will just get whatever I want, and then return back home before the rain started, but things went south for me which got me regretting stepping out.

Suddenly, the man said he would risk it and that I should hold him tight from behind. I could not try to stop him because he already kicked his bike and took off. People were shouting at us, but this man was determined, and as soon as he entered the flood, he raised the machine up and drove so quickly. I closed my eyes and started shouting the blood of Jesus continuously in my mind. It was at that moment the thought of death ran through me. I remembered the scripture where it says there is a step between life and death. I saw how heavy the rain was but this man with his strength risked it.

When we passed through the flood, the man stood and breathed for some minutes as we looked back to see what we just did and how we escaped not being dragged into the river. That was like a near-death experience as we saw those on the other side hailing the bike man and thanking God on our behalf. Till I got home, my heart was racing and I wasn't myself that day. I got home, prayed and thanked God for that experience and decided never to try what I did that day. I calculated wrongly and it was something I could have postponed till the next day but I just needed to eat what I wanted. I ate my snacks after being settled.

Thanks for your time on my blog.
