Life is full of many opportunities. At times, opportunities are embedded even inside a problem; we can discover it and utilize it! Some people lost great opportunities due to indecision just as I have experienced in the past which led me to so much regret. However, being hard on myself for a long time didn't help rather, I moved on and be more sensitive to my environment to utilize nice opportunities when it passes by again.
Some people also lost opportunities due to procrastination. lack of money in some cases can also hinder one from having access to a nice opportunity to be better. For instance, you may have good business info that lasts Just for a while, it might require an amount which you couldn't afford and therefore cause you to lose a such business opportunity. A lot of factors can contribute to why people miss out on opportunities at times, in most cases, it could even be a circumstance you could not control that made you lose an opportunity(maybe you stepped out to attend to other things and an opportunity came in the environment where you was and you missed out, I have heard of cases like this). But whichever factor is yours, just know that some lost opportunities can even be a blessing in disguise while some lost opportunities can hurt so badly but there is always a next opportunity 👌.
In as much as I have lost nice opportunities in the past, I have also gained some. I will tell you one time I lost and gained considering the contest topic.
LOST OPPORTUNITY
I got a job link from a friend. It was an oil and gas firm recruitment. I read the instructions and the date for the submission, I thought I saw that 21st of April was the deadline for submission not knowing that it's the 12th. I was taking my time working on my Cv, packaging it well and finally submitted it on the 15th of April confidently, so happy that I meet up with the deadline not knowing that I was late. The time I got an email from the company apologizing for any inconvenience, I was crazy about myself. Two months later before the placement of those that got the job offer, I had an encounter with a man who wanted to put my name under his slot for the same job, but unfortunately, my name wasn't in the system because I missed the written interview due to late submission. Imagine losing such a great opportunity just because I failed to check the submission date very well. The man who wanted to help me with the job using his slot in the company promised to do so whenever they recruit again. It's been four years now and I'm yet to hear from them. This is how I lost an opportunity that would have given me my dream well-paid job. It hurts so badly upon reflection.
MISSED OPPORTUNITY AS A BLESSING
Some years back, I was on a search desperately for a good apartment for rent (a house for my family and me). I was expecting a child that year and we needed a good house urgently. After so much searching, we found one and were so much happy. Not knowing that the agent in charge of the house is a scammer. I loved the house so much and was doing everything possible to make the payment before someone else takes the nice apartment. Just before we made the payment, I had an emergency issue with my pregnancy then and we were rushed to the hospital. A lot happened and we spent close to 2 months in the hospital forgetting the apartment for rent. Later on, after I have give birth, we went back to the house and discovered that the scammer later rented the house to a victim who later lost his hard-earned money to the scammer. I couldn't imagine how I would have felt had it been in I fall such victim. It was a missed opportunity as a blessing in disguise. The situation also thought me a lesson to always make proper investigation before making any kind of transactions.
FOUND OPPORTUNITY
Among several opportunities I have found in my life so far, permit me to say that having my path crossed with my hive onboarder was a great opportunity which I grabbed with my two hands finally and I'm utilizing this opportunity so well👌
In conclusion, there is a saying that opportunity comes but once. Any good opportunity that passes our way, it will be great that we utilize it but the one we can't do anything about, you let it slide.
