As a big introvert, I enjoy being all by myself with few or no friends to keep me company.. But in the virtual world, I seem to be an extrovert who happens to have a bunch of friends and also enjoy hanging out with them through chats.
My online friends actually think I am who I am in the real world just as it is in the virtual world until we had a physical hangout that showed them my real self.. No be the Nigly wey dey burst our head for chats be this one wey dey chilled like ice block? 😂

Well, I was smart enough to pretend for few minutes and act like I used to with them on chats.. But still I knew I was trying to be who I'm not😔
Social media has made life fun and meaningful for a great introvert like me .. I've been able to make friends, keep a long lasting relationship with them and also reconnect back with friends who for one reason or the other have been on a ghosting level with me.. With the green chat app(WhatsApp) friendship has made much sense to me.
I can't even remember the last time I called to check up on a friend.. All thanks to all the chat apps we've got!☺️
Instead of recharging my line for calls, I use that money to buy a data subscription that I could use to chat because chatting makes communication easier and faster for me than calling. I hardly notice people whom I've not reached out to in a while through calls but with chats I can easily notice and just send a "Hi" message to check up on them.
With social media chats, getting any information that I've forgotten is easy unlike with calls and this has really helped in other online businesses that I do.. For instance, as a graphic designer, I get a customer who wants me to design a business flyer.. Passing the details of the flyer design would be preferable on chats so I could get any forgotten information needed for the flyer design right? I'd choose chats over calls anytime and any day especially for this very purpose.
I can go on and on to give a long list of the benefits chatting has given me but in line with the contest, I was asked to say one good thing chatting has done for me and it has to be..
Chatting online with friends has made me a great sanguine just what I wish I am in the real world🙂
Making people laugh so hard at jokes that I was able to put up on chat keeps me alive! It has helped my boring life😅 Whenever I'm bored, chatting helps me get out of boredom.. I wonder what my introvert life would have been like without those social media chatting apps. I enjoy being an extrovert online!🤓
On the other news, one bad thing chatting on social media has done to me is, it makes hangout in the real world a little uninteresting... 😑
This is what I mean.. When I get all the details I need to get about a friend through chats, it will be very difficult to have a real conversation with the person during a physical hangout because I feel I already know almost everything about them and definitely they must have also known everything about me too.
I managed to have a physical hangout with my online friend a while ago and he brought up a gist of how he spent his last weekend in one of the big restaurants in Lagos and before he could even say jack.. I put the gist to a halt! Yea yea! I saw that on your whatsApp status.. mehn you enjoyed oo! And that was how that gist just died a premature death there😂
There was nothing new to talk about.. Sometimes I wish we don't get to dish out all the details about us on social media or while chatting on social media so we'll have something to talk about incase any physical hangout happens by chance for introverts like me.. But who are we not to dish out or find out all those juicy details during online chats?😂😅
So practically, the physical hangout with my friend was a boring one because I've known all the details.. This is one bad thing that social media chats has done to me!
