IT WAS A SCARY NIGHT

We all have different perceptions or opinions of what fear is and as such what might have instilled fear in me might not even make another person wink an eye. That same way, some persons have the ability to manage their own fears that hardly could anyone close notice while there are some who can't just stand their fears and this does not mean they are weak.. Humans react differently to things you know?

Now back to the response to this amazing contest
I've been scared a good number times... I can fear for africa!😅
And some funny actions that I display whenever I'm scared is I get to cry, I also pant sometimes too, I shake and sweat on my palms also when I'm scared... And yea, I ask myself a lot of rhetorical questions. These actions that I exhibit whenever I'm scared sometimes happen all at the same time or one at a time.

This is my scary night story experience

This happened in the month of July back then in 2019.. I can't remember the actual date but it was during the time I was called for my NYSC orientation camp program in the northern part of Nigeria at Katsina State. I was traveling by road to the north from the east for the very first time in my entire life.😧 You'll agree with me that it's a very long journey, two and half days journey.

I boarded a luxurious bus at the park that left around evening by 4pm.. I was headed for a night journey that I was so scared of! and as soon as we left the park to start our journey, I whispered a word of prayer to God for journey mercies. The journey was going on smoothly until night came, I adjusted the window curtain of the bus and peeped through the window only to see our bus surrounded with thick bushes.. More like we were journeying in a forest! 😱 We must have gotten into one of the northern States I guessed.. I wonder why I even stayed close to the window or think of opening the curtains.😑

Immediately, boko ~haram skipped into my thoughts.. Could it be we are passing through the sambisa forest? I was so scared especially with the countless issues that were going on in the north at that time.. I was so terrified and finally, I bursted into tears!😢
The elderly woman that sat close to me in the bus noticed I was scared and crying and she comforted me by giving me the assurance that we were safe while we discussed a few other things.. She also went ahead to make sure that all the window curtains in the luxurious bus were properly covered so that I wouldn't see anything outside again that very night.. That was what those curtains were meant for, especially for fear fear people like me.. But no! I wanted see my prince charming and finally got disappointed with the thick bushes around😆😢

We continued our journey and after a while we heard a sound on the bus...Our bus had broken down! oh no! That was not suppose to happen at that time of the night.. It was in the midnight🥺
Getting a mechanic that could fix the problem on our bus was very impossible.
And again, my eyes I started to shed silent tears.🥺
The driver pleaded with all the passengers to come down from the vehicle so the fault could be fixed.. And while coming down, I wondered how possible this would be with tears in my eyes. We all came down from the bus and I noticed that we were stuck in a lonely place 😱 No houses! No shops! Not even a single human being was around the corner except for the passengers and driver... We were surrounded with thick bushes and thorny trees!
The thought that we could be in sambisa forest came to my mind again 😩
I thought I was going to get kidnapped or loose my life that very night.. I quickly waved off this thought this time around.. I needed to get hold of my fears so as not to go out of control.

How I pulled through

I whispered a word of prayer to God for few minutes to come and take charge of the situation and few minutes after I was done, I heard some sound under the bus and lo! and behold! a mechanic was already working on the bus. I smiled and asked a passenger around how we were able to get a mechanic.. And he said that the transport company do not travel without a mechanic because they know that any bus going on such a long journey might break down on the road and also for the fact that we were on a night journey they were wise enough to put a professional mechanic in the vehicle to travel with us incase matters like the one we were in arise. I felt at ease again.. At least we were not going to sleep in the bush till the next morning before we could continue our journey. After the bus got fixed, we continued our journey and I got to the camp venue the following day in the evening.. It was a scary night but all the same I thank God I didn't loose my life during the journey.
