THE BOSS SLAYER

"We shall not retreat!"

"And we shall not surrender!"

This was Leo's address to the other Lions and Lionesses of the Pride who were shamefully cowered by the humanoid aliens who came prepared to wipe every beast and human on the face of the earth.

Leo spoke in a loud voice and gave forth a thunderous Roar to rekindle the burning flames and motivate the Pride to defend their Fortress. Yet, only the brave warriors stood by him, the others were dead in the spirit, awaiting physical deaths.

Leo wore his battle armour and led the courageous Lions who stood by him.

It was a fierce battle, but Leo's endurance, courage and tactics were unmatched. And this remained unparalleled till he slayed the Boss of the humanoid aliens.

Leo is the Boss Slayer!

THE PROMPT

This artwork was inspired by the Artist Adventure in the Threads Adoption Campaign organized by the Leofinance Community.

The mission is termed: The Boss Slayer, and the mission is to Draw/Design/Create an image of a powerful Lion who just defeated a final boss.

According to the information given in the quest information, anyone who defeats the final boss in any adventure of the campaign will receive an NFT. Hence, we are encouraged to draw something befitting and NFT worthy.

Did you join in the Campaign, and have you defeated any boss so far?

For me? Yes, I have, and I hope I'll defeat the Boss of the Artist Adventure with this entry.

INTERPRETATION

Inspired by the prompt, I knew my amateur hand drawing won't save me in this Quest. Hence, I focused on learning the Krita Software that was recommended to me by Nifty.

I had to watch some YouTube videos and within few hours I began working with the software. But, I had little time to practice because the Campaign ends in few hours. Hence, I decided to use this as my first attempt at digital drawing.

These two YouTube videos actually did the magic for me:

Also, I searched around to find what I can draw, then I found an image and I decided to trace it, and build my drawing from it.

THE PROCESS

Boss 1.PNG

The first thing I did was to trace a layer over the image that inspired my drawing.

I traced the outer part of the area at first with a big size brush.

boss 2.PNG

Then, I began to trace the inside of the characters to reveal some of the details of the characters.

It took a long time because I used a smaller size brush and tried to do it carefully.

boss 3.PNG

I hid the image that I was tracing in order to view how how tracing journey was.

It wasn't bad, you know.

boss 4.PNG

I also marked the various points that I wished my colours to go. This is a really complex drawing, and I had to be careful to know which colours will go where.

boss 5.PNG

I also traced the outer part as well and marked it as transparent.

boss 7.PNG

I discovered that my humanoid alien was too black, so I went back to do some colour changes to both the alien and my Lion.

boss 6.PNG

Yea, I have problems with colours, so please don't blame me.

boss 8.PNG

I had to manage this, although I saw some mistakes. However, I believe if I continue practicing, I'll get better at this.

Then I gave it a better background, by adding the mountains, as well as some small grasses.

I believe all these played their different roles to make this piece unique.

Once again, your lovely ideas and corrections are welcomed. I am still a learner, plus I actually have problems with colours (lol), that's why I don't consider myself as a graphic designer or artist.

So, let me hear what you think about this piece.

This piece is my entry for the Boss Slayer (the final quest of the Artist Adventure on Zealy campaign) and for the Creative Sunday in Hive Learner's Community.
