Leveling Up My Creativity By Cooking Dal Chawal For #CreativeSunday

So, Finally, the most awaited day of the week is here, It's a day where we can do some creative task and share it with our Hive family.

I was busy for the past 4-5 days because of my Brother's engagement, so I couldn't make any posts in the last 4 days, But now I'm back with my post for #creativesunday.

how could I miss this? We were so tired due to the Event, but I asked my wife to get up early in the morning.

There were two reasons for us to get up early in the morning. The first reason was there were guests in our home and second It was a Sunday.

As last week was a chicken and meat week, I decided to cook something different and light today. The only option that comes to my mind was Dal Chawal, It's a very old dish and was very famous in Mughal Era.

So, Let's Begin.


Ingredients.


  • Mix lentils 1/2 Kg.
  • 4 pieces Of Tomatos.
  • Rice 1/2 Kg.
  • 4 Cloves of Garlic.
  • 2 Table Spoon Red Chillie.
  • Salt 1 & a half tablespoons.
  • Turmeric 1 Tea Spoon.
  • Cumin 1 Tea Spoon.
  • 250 ML Oil

Cooking Procedure


It's a very easy recipe and anyone can cook it at home. To cook it, you first need to arrange all the ingredients mentioned above.

When arranged, you first need to clean and wash the Lentils. After clearing and washing properly, soak the lentils in water for almost half an hour.

Soaking on Water will make soften the lentils, then put 2 glasses of water and the lentils in the Pressure Cooker.

Along with Lentils and water put other ingredients including, salt, red chilli powder, tomatoes, garlic, cumin and turmeric in the pressure cooker and pressure it for 15 minutes.

Cut the tomatoes like this shown in the picture.

In these 15 minutes, Lentils will get softened and well mixed in the pressure cooker.

Now we need to Temper the Well mixed lentils. It will enhance the fragrance and taste of lentils.

Here I'm listing some ingredients that you may need in tempering the cooked lentils.

  • Chopped garlic 6cloves
  • Red chillies round 6
  • Cumin 1tsp
  • Oil ½ cup

Fry these ingredients in the oil until the garlic colour turned into pinkish.

Now add these fried ingredients along with oil in the Pressure cooker to Temper the cooked Lentils. Finally, our lentils are ready to eat.


Now we will Boil the Rice as follow. Put the rice in the water and boil them for 7-10 minutes. Add a tablespoon of oil and two tablespoons of Salt in the water.

When boiled, stain the Rice with a stainer and put them in a separate bowl.

You are all done, Delicious Dal Chawal are ready and Now can eat them.
