Courage In Place Of Fear

Every man born of a woman is afraid of something, our fears grows or increases as we grow. A little child is afraid to fall down this is one reason most children have a Little delay in walking, they are always careful and a little thing will make them hold you strongly.

Welcome to this first working day in the new week, I pray for face your fears properly so you have the best result.

When I was about to write my second to the last Jamb I made this personal resolution to focus on my work and not seek for help from anyone, I recall that was the first time Computer Base Test was introduced. So I did my best to stay to my words. There is this problem I have noticed from myself over time, sometimes I feel am not good enough at something...you know this low self esteem really dealt with me. Well, I made it. When the result came out I scored 219 and that was so encouraging and I was proud of myself.

What this helped me to do was to improve in my believe. How I viewed myself changed drastically and from that moment I promised myself not to look into anyone for help in the exam Hall. Looking at our schools today, it is worthy to note that most students don't believe that they can make anything, they make their way to miracle centres immediately they are rounding up SS2. This has gone a long way to water the quality in the educational system in my country. When these ones grow with that mindset, they take it down to the university. Some weeks back I met some grown youths who don't know how to read or write but they made their WAEC that gave me lots of worry. I just left them with a little advice because at that point there is nothing much I could do to remedy the situation.

Coming to write the fourth JAMB was the last, I sat down for months studying my books and through past questions. When I got to the hall this time it was truly a walk over for me because I knew what brought be there and stood by it. Even when the person beside was trying to ask for assistance, I told him I don't communicate in the hall.

After this particular exams I was offered admission into the university of my choice and the course of my interest too was given to me. Throughout my four years in the university not communicating in the exams hall was my guiding principle. I was always ready to offer assistance with some tutorials before Exams. It got to a point that some of my course mates became offended in me and I cared less about it.

Fear is normal in everyone's life but how far it goes in affecting a man is dependent on the person involved. The fear of exams don't get to me to the point of indulging in examination malpractice. I am one person that hates exam malpractice so much and I encourage my kids to read so they will do well. When one reads and knows what's he is doing there is no point asking for assistance. Even the examiner don't expect anyone to answer all the questions. So I try my best and leave the rest, this has been my approach to examination fear.
