Just an eraser...but like you said...that wasn't the point, in my opinion, the point was he noticed you nervousness, your despair and your need, and cared about it, and maybe he felt reflected, and just found a simple but profound way to get you out of a trouble on your first day. Those kind of details do count, us humans can't afford getting away of humanity, see the need, having a helping solution in our hands and do nothing...that take us away of the humanitarian road.
