How Physical and Health Education Helped Me

Welcome To My Blog

Hello friends, how are you doing today? I hope you are doing just fine? Thank you for visiting my blog today.

We all had that favorite subject in school that we anticipate so much the subject period even before it comes. It feels like we should have the subject everyday and leave subjects like further mathematics 😂, Physical Education was that subject.

No matter how long you stay in class teaching this, I never get tired or bored because it is a practical subject which you can relate to life. It teaches exercises that would help the body. This brings me back to good old memories in High school. My school calls it physical and health education (PHE). To make it even more fun I loved the teacher who teaches it because he was a lover of sport and he made sure everyone participated. He even gave good credit to those who do better in practical than theory classes.

I could remember that my school assigned Wednesdays for Physical Education while Friday is more of a mental exercise where students come together to display their talents like singing, cracking jokes, and drama.
Every Friday we wear our sports wear and that becomes my best day of the week. Less learning, more exercises.
Since we were much it was mostly done class after class. Each class has about 30 minutes and in rare classes everyone in highschool exercises together.

I'm sure physical education was the reason for inter-house sport. This is hosted in many high schools in my country. Students in different classes are chosen into different houses that are named after colors : Blue house, Yellow house, White house.
Before the day students do a lot of rehearsals for different sports of their choice. That particular day for the game, one or two members from the house represents them in each game. The winners for each game is recorded and the overall winners are given the cup.

It was fun then that we anticipated the inter-house sport. We take it seriously as we want our team to win so we become the talk of the day. Even teachers who lead the team make sure the house they are assigned to wins. Just to bear the winner at that academic session.

Physical education taught me so many things. I learnt that exercising is good. It actually helps the brain. Exercise is just more than keeping fit. I realized that after those exercises, classes after then become more fun because the brain is active also.
It also makes one to realize what he or she is good at. Most good footballer or basketballers started from high school. They found their passion, learnt there and started playing after high school. They took the career very seriously and now are well known players.

In school I was good at racing and playing table tennis then the board game was Scrabble. It made me get familiar with words from the dictionary. I also realized that those exercises help me stay fit, I hardly get sick and it helps me with school stress.
Like they say "All work and no play make jack a dull boy"
