Happily Ever After

HAPPY NEW MONTH

The joy of every week is that there are fresh editions to write about.
This is edition 1 of the week 23 @hivelearners prompt.

I suppose sometimes life merely tests us to deliver a happy ending if we don't give up quickly. It requires someone who endures some time to glimpse the light in the tunnel.

I acquired the best friend whose name was Florence.
Florence was in a relationship for around 5 years, they met in her second year at University. They were friends for a long before they began dating.
After they were done with School the man migrated to Lagos, he later acquired a decent job and proposed to her. I was the first person she called that day. I was very happy for her. There's no Joy in watching your friend wedded in the other manner hand, I felt sad since she would be traveling far. The man lives in Lagos while we were staying in Port Harcourt. But suddenly the Joy was bigger than the Sadness.

Getting ready for the wedding the parents of the boy discovered out she was from the South(Rivers) while he was from the West (Yoruba).

They didn't consent to the marriage.
The Day she heard it, she was weeping and called me. Immediately I went to visit her. She was already slender and looked terrible because of so much thinking and weeping, that she could hardly eat. A 5 years relationship falling off due to similar tribalism difficulties. I had to remain in her home for a few days so she could see someone to talk to and not do anything crazy. I could always say “if it is yours, it will happen". We prayed about it occasionally and I tried to make jokes to make her feel better.

She was contemplating calling off the engagement herself since she wouldn't want to be married to a family that wouldn't love and respect her.
The man resisted her calling off the engagement, he maintained that he had married her or else disown himself if his parents didn't provide him strong grounds to abandon her.
Being the only Son, they were frightened to lose him. But we continued hoping that God might touch their hearts.

At a time they caved up and permitted them to be married.
I was so happy for my best friend. Thank God they held on and didn't break the Engagement.
With time, her spouse's parents loved her so much that they felt they would never do it.

They are presently residing in Lagos and God had blessed them with a baby boy.
