Technological Advancement At The Expense Of Nature.

Civilization is not one of the topics I love discussing but sometimes it's just inevitable, everyone has their perspective on it and I find it pointless dissecting and analysing something we have zero chance of changing. Instead of engaging with topics like this, I just listen and learn things that I do not know. I have seen people get into discussions about how well civilization has fixed or ruined the world but the fact is that we are still in this same world regardless of what we think about civilization.

Whether civilization has ruined or fixed the world, one thing I am certain about is that humans wouldn't have lived the same way for centuries. We increase in size daily, we understand more about our existence and environment daily, and these things have made change inevitable for us. It is constant, we are meant to grow naturally but we always have a name for everything rather than blame ourselves for the repercussions of the things we have done wrongly.

The first question I ask people is, "Would there have been anything called civilization without humans?"

We started it but greed and selfish desire of vanity have made things go beyond our control. Humans commit blunders and in the course of covering their tracks, they commit more blunders which is why the world is where it is today. Our population isn't the same, there is a need for government, improved medical healthcare system, communication, machines and a lot more. We have all these but use them wrongly and still blame those things that can't function without humans controlling them.

It is hard to point at just one thing as the best that civilization has done for us despite the harm it has caused. I think about agricultural advancements, medicine, education, and technology and realized that the world would have been a happier and better place if we didn't allow greed to lead us to where we are. Among the things civilization has done, I rate technological advancement as the biggest of them all.

When I was a kid, I remember how stressful it was for us to communicate with my dad abroad. My mom spent a lot of money monthly on that because there were only a few business places where you could make international calls. Things changed at some point and we could make internet calls at cybercafe at a cheaper price. Today, we can make calls easily to any part of the world from the comfort of our homes.

It doesn't end at that, education has been made easier with the advancements in technology. The medical sector has been impacted positively and we can't overlook how it has affected the finances as well. The advancement in technology is what led to Cryptocurrency, faster means of transportation and being able to engage on Hive wouldn't have been possible without technological advancement. All these are a great deal for the human race but it's sad that there are people who have used this technological advancement wrongly, they have caused harm, ruined lives and in the end we blame civilization instead of humans who are the real culprits.

Civilization came with a price and its effect on nature is my biggest challenge with it because I feel like it would get to a time when everything we are striving to build or improve on would amount to nothing when humans push nature to the limit. All sorts of pollution, deforestation and others keep happening every day, and it bothers me how much more of all these can nature handle before it brings the human race their worst nightmare.

We are bearing the consequences already but being able to adapt to new conditions has made us not think too much about the floods, hurricanes, earthquakes and other natural disasters happening globally. We feel we can always build again when these things happen and I hope one day won't just be the end of it all.

As much as I enjoy various advancements in technology, it breaks my heart to know that nature takes the biggest hit for everything. I mentioned earlier that it's pointless getting into some discussion when we can't do anything to change the situation surrounding it, not being able to do anything about how civilization is affecting nature doesn't make me feel good.

I earn a living with the help of technology advancement and no one would have thought that working from home would be anything possible today. I am a benefactor but thinking about nature sometimes affects my productivity mentally. Although, we might think we don't have any problems because we barely experience impactful natural disasters in my country but sooner or later, every human will be affected.

Regardless of what civilization has done, we have all learned to live and adapt to the new normal. The weather isn't what it used to be but we are coping which is what humans do best, we will always find a way. I am coping as well and while enjoying technological advancement, I also try to play my part to nature.
