The Pros And Cons Of Self Driving Cars

We live in a world where everything is possible, science and technology have done so many wonders in various forms and it seems like it's just the beginning.

The last time I entered an automatic car, I became a village boy, seeing the car move without the driver moving the stirring was like magic to me. However, it was not a totally self-driven car because the driver still used manual drive at some points. Throughout our journey that day, my mouth was just wide open, I was really caught up by the whole thing.

Honestly, that car was a sweet invention, technology is really doing a great job. Having an automatic car won't be a bad idea. If I have the opportunity to get one, I won't hesitate to go for it but with conditions.

Concerning the roads to drive the car, I must confess, I don't think our roads down here would be conducive for such cars, most of the roads are bad and very busy even though recently the government has been tirelessly working on the roads around my place but until those roads are put in good shape, such cars won't be nice to drive here.

I can't stop picturing a lot of advantages attached to the car; even those who don't know how to drive can finally own cars and not be worried about who would drive them, there won't be a need for hiring a driver anymore and the risk of having an accident due to drunkenness, sleeping while driving and others caused by emotions won't be there anymore.

But don't get me wrong, accidents will still occur, it's something that can't be prevented. The cars are machines, a little malfunctioning can result in a huge problem. So, there are also bad sides to the cars.

And when accidents do occur, both the company and the owner can be blamed depending on what led to the accident, it can be the owner if the owner failed to maintain the car as it ought to be and it can be the company if the owner does maintain the car but the accident still occurred.

If a car like that is to be given out to the people it has to be something that is 99% safe for people to risk their lives to journey in.

If it can't guarantee such safety it shouldn't be made in the first place. The company has to ensure that if at all such cars are involved in any crash, then it must be something that is beyond control.

Unfortunately, that kind of assurance doesn't exist anywhere. This is where my fear for such vehicles starts. A totally self-driving car is cool but it may end up making things worse.

I believe such cars will run based on the commands given to them unless there's a provision to suddenly give it a fresh command anytime and it will obey instantly, if not I won't advise anyone to risk their lives to enter such cars.

I think if there must be such cars, then they should be both automatic and manual so that the person or people in the car can intervene instantly where necessary.
