Today I'm joining the Creative Sunday initiative to share a delicious recipe: it's an orange cake filled with arequipe. With enthusiasm, I prepared this exquisite cake to celebrate my sister Maria's birthday. I hope you enjoy this delight as much as we do!


Without further ado, here are the ingredients and the step-by-step:


#Ingredients:

For the cake:

-3 cups of wheat flour
-1 1/4 cups of sugar
-Juice of 2 oranges
-250 grams of butter at room temperature
-6 eggs
-1 tablespoon baking powder
-1 teaspoon vanilla

For filling and topping:

-Arequipe to taste


𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐒𝐨𝐧: π•Šπ•–π•‘π•₯ 𝕓π•ͺ 𝕀π•₯𝕖𝕑:


  • To begin, preheat the oven to 180 Β°C. Then, we proceed to separate the egg whites from the yolks. Place the egg whites in a large bowl and reserve the yolks in a small bowl.


  • Then, we squeeze the oranges with the help of our hands to extract their juice.

  • Beat the egg whites with a whisk until stiff peaks are reached; set aside.



  • Stir the baking powder into the flour and set aside.


  • In a large bowl, beat the butter until it whitens and softens. Then, add the sugar, making sure it is completely integrated and disintegrated, achieving a smooth and creamy mixture.


  • Add the egg yolks to the butter and sugar mixture, beating vigorously to achieve uniform incorporation, then the vanilla.
  • Gradually incorporate the flour mixture into the butter and sugar mixture, alternating with the orange juice. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.


  • Divide the dough into two pans. Bake for approximately 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.


Once the time is over, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the molds until they are completely cold, place one of the cakes on a plate and spread a generous layer of arequipe, then cut the other cake in half and add another generous layer of arequipe, finally place the second cake on top and press gently, then place the lid on the filling.
