Oxalis Flowers Look Like Butterflies

Ornamental plants are not just Aglonema, Monstera, and perforated widows. Beyond that, there are many other ornamental plants that are no less charming. Just look at the butterfly flower or the plant with the scientific name Oxalis triangularis. Its unfussy nature makes Oxalis favored by ornamental plant lovers. This flower which is also known as the 'love plant' is also known to be very productive. Although growing slowly, but the plant easily spreads to various sides.

Not to mention the purple leaves, giving the plant an elegant impression. The flowers at first glance look like small trumpet-shaped orchids hanging down that emit a refreshing fragrance.

Not only that, another feature of this plant is the shape of the leaves that resemble the wings of a butterfly. Due to its high sensitivity to light, Oxalis leaves will close by itself at night, like a butterfly curled up in silence. Meanwhile, during the day, Oxalis leaves will bloom again and open like waking up from sleep.

Like the character of ornamental plants that have their original habitats in the tropics, butterfly flowers also like the light of the morning sun until late afternoon. If you are reluctant to flower in April to September, it could be because you need more sunlight. Oxalis plant stems contain a lot of water. Therefore, if watered too often will make the roots and stems rot easily.

This plant has a triangular leaf shape that resembles a butterfly flower. This butterfly flower is an ornamental plant that comes from tropical countries in South America and South Asia. As a tropical plant, Oxalis can grow perfectly at a temperature of 15-25 degrees Celsius.

Interestingly, how to care for this butterfly flower is quite easy. The leaves are 'photophilic' i.e. they can open and close themselves in response to light. At night, these butterfly flowers are neatly folded and curled up, looking like a swarm of tiny purple butterflies. Then in the morning, the leaves will widen. The purple leaves at first glance look like small trumpet-shaped orchids hanging down that emit a refreshing fragrance.

Watering butterfly flowers is done weekly and not often. Too much water will make the plant close again or wilt. Please note that butterfly flowers are sometimes dormant and the blooms wither over time. Since this generally occurs during the summer months, funds will be fertile again when temperatures cool down.

Watering too often makes the soil wet and prone to rot. So this is not liked by the butterfly flower. During the dry season, simply water the top part of the soil that feels dry once in 1-2 days. But during the rainy season, just water the butterfly flowers every two to three times a week.
