Sunflowers
The sunflower is a shrub native to Central and North America that is cultivated in much of the world for food, to extract its oils, or simply as an ornament.
It is characterized by having heliotropism, which is the ability to orient its flowers in the direction of the sun, which is why, for some ancient pre-Hispanic civilizations, it represented a solar deity.
Some years ago, I made a short trip in the company of my fiancée at that time, to the sunflower fields located in the neighboring state of Portuguesa, and although our final destination was the town of Turén, we found a field located on the side of the "José Antonio Páez" Highway, a few minutes away from the twin cities of Acarigua-Araure, so I parked the car on the shoulder to make a tour among the huge flowers and photograph it. Later, after changing our plans, we decided to continue our trip, but this time to the city of Guanare.
El girasol es un arbusto originario de Centro y Norteamérica que se cultiva en gran parte del globo terráqueo con fines alimenticios, para extraer sus aceites, o sencillamente, como ornamento.
Se caracteriza por poseer heliotropismo, que es la capacidad de orientar sus flores en dirección al sol, razón por la cual, para algunas antiguas civilizaciones prehispánicas representaba una deidad solar.
Hace algunos años, realicé un corto viaje en compañía de quien era en aquel momento mi prometida, a los sembradíos de girasoles ubicados en el vecino estado Portuguesa, y aunque nuestro destino final era la población de Turén, encontramos un sembradío ubicado a un costado de la Autopista José Antonio Páez, a pocos minutos de distancia de las ciudades gemelas Acarigua-Araure, por lo que estacioné el carro en el hombrillo para hacer un recorrido entre las enormes flores y fotografiarlo. Posteriormente, y luego de cambiar de planes, decidimos continuar nuestro viaje, pero en esta ocasión hasta la ciudad de Guanare.
