Horticulture
Horticulture is the cultivation of crops in gardens and orchards. This term is also used to refer to the knowledge and techniques that allow this work to be carried out.
In a broader sense, horticulture is not only linked to the cultivation of vegetables for home consumption or commercial purposes; it also includes fruits, flowers and aromatic herbs, therefore, it also includes fruit growing and floriculture, for example.
For more than two decades my mother has belonged to a local gardening club, which in turn is part of a large conglomerate or confederation of clubs scattered throughout many of the countries of the American continent, so her great passion, in addition to horticulture, is floral design, a specialty in which over time, she has acquired great knowledge and skills.
The balcony of his apartment located on a fourth floor, is full of pots with different varieties of plant species, among which are the succulents, a variety that is characterized by having a high capacity to store water, which allows them to better resist droughts, which results in their leaves, stems and roots become more "fleshy" or "bulky" because of this property.
These specimens that I present in the images that I share in this post, have a flower with an attractive geometric shape, and whose diameter barely exceeds two centimeters, just under an inch.
La horticultura es el desarrollo de cultivos en jardines y huertos. También se emplea este término para referirnos a los conocimientos y las técnicas que permiten llevar a cabo esta labor.
En un sentido más amplio, la horticultura no solo se vincula al cultivo de las hortalizas para su consumo doméstico o con fines comerciales; sinó que también incluye a las frutas, flores y las hierbas aromáticas, por lo tanto, también abarca a la fruticultura y la floricultura, por ejemplo.
Mi madre desde hace mas de dos décadas pertenece a un club local de jardinería, que a su vez forma parte de un gran conglomerado o confederación de clubes esparcidos por muchos de los países del continente americano, por lo que su gran pasión, además de la horticultura, es el diseño floral, especialidad en la que en el transcurso del tiempo, ha adquirido grandes conocimientos y habilidades.
El balcón de su apartamento ubicado en un cuarto piso, está repleto de macetas con diferentes variedades de especies vegetales, entre las que destacan las suculentas, una variedad que se caracteriza por poseer una alta capacidad para almacenar agua, lo cual les permite resistir mejor a las sequías, lo que trae como consecuencia que sus hojas, tallos y raíces se vuelvan más "carnosas" o "voluminosas" debido a esta propiedad.
Estos ejemplares que presento en las imágenes que comparto en este post, poseen una flor con una atractiva forma geométrica, y cuyo diámetro apenas supera los dos centímetros, poco menos de una pulgada.
