It's already spring, and it's been since autumn that I've been yearning for more hikes, but I always ended up somewhere in the city, especially when my feet don't want to go any farther. I did visit the mountain twice in late December and 1st day of the year, (you can read my post here and here), but that was the first and last since the autumn season began, contrary to what I planned to do before the transition of seasons.
It always feels good to reconnect with nature and hike a mountain. It is only when I can temporarily forget reality and escape from the bustling city. Last weekend, that was an impulsive decision to conquer the highest mountain alone which wasn't my initial plan. Indeed, it is best to just travel anywhere you choose and not make any plans because anything just happen. Just like the adage says, "Don't wait for the perfect moment, take the moment and make it perfect."
So I had a chance to reconnect with nature last weekend. I rode on a two-deck bus and it seemed like the front row on the upper deck was left available for me to occupy. It gave me a better spot to see scenic views along the way.
Isn't it soothing to the eyes to witness the natural world in such brilliant colors? Moreover, I loved seeing a not dense place in the countryside which is way too far from the views of the cities. More green spaces and lesser high-rise buildings. The mountainous backdrops are always the best.
Along the way, I spotted some cherry blossom trees, which I had been hoping to see since the beginning of spring. I had never been to this area of the New Territories before, so I was astonished to discover that there were more cherry blossoms there. I'll probably visit a certain location one day to get a closer look at them.
I noticed this terraces on the right as the bus stopped at a pedestrian. I was reminded of the rice terraces in the Philippines. I had no idea what this place was, probably a garden or small farm owned by a local.
Land in New Territories is less expensive compared to the ones in the main cities. So some residents here really owned a house and lot, not just a flat. But have you noticed that protruding hill? It's so evident and looked so steep. It reminded me of the Needle Hill we climbed before. Or it probably is needle hill since the place is just somewhere in this territory as well.
The photos above are just a glimpse of what I visited last weekend. Indeed, look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better. This is what makes me truly happy: discovering new places and exploring the natural world. That's how I appreciate the earth and beauty it comprises.
