Cuteness Overload - Ground Squirrels in Austria

When I started my journey as a wildlife photographer one of the cutest animals that I found here in Austria are the hamsters and the ground squirrels that live in Lower Austria and Vienna. That's why back then I often visited these spots where I can find these cute little animals. One spot where I can get extremely close to these cuties is great for some pictures of them. I have to admit that last year I have been there probably only once but some years ago I often visited this spot to get some great pictures of these animals in the wild. There is a pond with a lot of people swimming there, a dog park and some horse tracks for riders near this spot that is probably whey these animals are so much used to humans and only little afraid. This circumstances help a lot when taking some pictures since you can get really really close to the without them fleeing from you.

Usually when I visit Vienna for some urban widlife photography this is one of my stops that I take. One of the reaasons are of course these little fellows but there is also a very nice bakery with a lot of good food that always draws my attention after I spent a few hours with the ground squirrels. At noon usually we change spots and go for one of the plenty other nice places in Vienna where you can do some urban widlifephotography. In the evening I usually visit one of the cementaries for some hamster photography before we have dinner and head back home. Stefan and I usually meet a friend in Vienna that is at the moment moving to Upper Austria and I am already looking forward doing some trips together.
