Sublime Sunday | Celebrating Sinulog Festival

Sublime Sunday, Hivers!

We are celebrating Sinulog festival here in Cebu, Philippines. While everyone is busy partying and walking down the streets with face paints and beautiful head dresses, which is what people usually do during the festival, i prefer to celebrate the festivities at the comfort of our home in solitude.

During Sinulog festival, it has been our tradition to write a petition in a piece of paper all our hearts' desires and wrap it around the balloon. We then release the balloon to the thin air as we hope for our petitions to come true.

Here's mine and my brother's balloons in the rooftop.

Its a windy afternoon here at home so we decided to just chill and appreciate the festival from a distance. Sinulog is actually a festival for Senior Sto Nino or the Black Nazarene of Cebu. (see: Sto Nino Church)

As i've shared, i have been a devotee of Sto Nino so during the festival, i made sure to complete the 9 days novena for thanks giving. Completing the novena was quite a challenge since thousands of people also visited the church to attend the mass. Adding the summer heat and the crowds, seeing people fainting inside the vicinity of Sto Nino is no longer a surprise.

After witnessing the festivities in the rooftop, i ate some cashew nuts and coffee as my afternoon snack and continued my solitude. I cant remember the last time i went to the rooftop to chill. As we are so busy doing mundane thigs in our day to day life, it feels good to take time and reflect once in a while. Maybe i should come here more often.

That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!

Viva Pit Senior, everyone! Have a wonderful weekend!

Sending some love and light

Love, Jane
