That's what we happened to do on our Sunday afternoon, after being up bright and early for a morning event. Because of a time crunch I skipped my morning coffee and when it became time for lunch, we decided to check out a nearby café. There was one belonging to a big brand only a few steps away from us, but it seemed to be loud and crowded, so decided to walk a bit further and try a novelty café a few blocks away.
Unfiltered is the name of this 4.1 stars rated café, which instantly gave an open and sophisticated feel when entering it's white and minimalistic decorated space. We immediately felt at ease and in spite of it's white (that's mostly associated with cold) walls, were warmly invited.
After we found a seat in a corner, the server came with some glasses of water and left to give us some space to think about what to order. When browsing through the menu, we noticed the sentence "kindly no laptops between 12 pm - 3 pm or during weekends", which was a breath of fresh air. We have nothing against technology nor people working or studying/researching in cafes, but some go to cafes to recharge or to (re)connect while enjoying a good cup of coffee.
We both ordered a cappuccino. The creaminess on top had the right consistency and before I added some sugar, I tasted the drink to know if it needed any. It had the right balance between bitter, cream, sour and sweet, which made me deter from adding sweeteners. My husband did add sugar, which elevated the sweet taste, without ruining the overall taste. So both options are recommended depending on one's preference. According to one of the baristas they used Ecuadorian coffee beans for our drinks, which has a natural sweet flavor.
