Like every Sunday morning, Antonio waits in his old plane for the cargo of bulk coffee coming from the Colombian Sierra to transport it to the United States, where these green peeled seeds will be processed.

As it is well known, this fresh product is highly appreciated to cheer up the mornings of thousands of people, which is why American industries prefer to process it with the most modern quality techniques.

While waiting for the aircraft to be loaded to its maximum capacity, he sips a cup of hot coffee, carefully observing the manual nautical charts that he uses to check the weather on the route to be flown, without detecting any atmospheric disturbance that might worry him.

The propeller plane is already a little more than 2 hours into its flight over the sea when he begins to see a strange accumulation of clouds in the triangulation near the islands, so he decides to change the course to be located above the island of Hispaniola. There, by the way, for several months there has been a shortage of food, food, and water, due to drought as a result of climate change, which has left their fields on the verge of becoming deserts of arid and cracked land.

Despite his efforts, the pilot does not manage to weather the storm, an overwhelming cold takes over the entire aircraft, freezing in a few seconds its wings and the bulk cargo cabin, forcing him to release the weight to avoid crashing so that about two tons of coffee beans are scattered on the clouds by chance.

Meanwhile, at ground level and unaware of what is happening above, a farmer in the Dominican Republic plows his field as best he can to prevent the drought from completely taking over, wiping out his only means of subsistence.

The farmer opens an irrigation channel with the hope that at some point the rain will come again, although he still has no clear idea of what he will be able to sow, since the last harvest was completed by the plague of insects that brought with it the oppressive heat and left him almost on the verge of bankruptcy, unable to buy new seeds and much less fertilizer, since he barely manages to survive with the little food he produces on the family farm, submerged in deep sadness.

Suddenly, a powerful rumble is heard from above, shaking the entire plain and leaving the humble man bewildered, he does not know what to do, beyond seeking shelter under the shade of a tree, being quite frightened.

No storm clouds are visible to the naked eye, nor thunder, only a dull sun in orange and violet tones that seems to announce upcoming rainfall, which is still something very rare at this hour and especially in the face of such a devastating drought.

It is at that moment when a whistling sound passes by his ear at great speed opening a hole in the ground as if it were a stray bullet, observing that, this man immediately realizes that something is happening and must quickly find a better shelter than a simple tree, while he continues to hear things crashing on the ground, he runs out and throws himself under the tractor to wait for what will happen next.

Bursts like machine guns are heard all around, while this man is trembling and screaming, unable to know what is happening right at that moment, an ice stone explodes very close to his face, filling it with wet frost, which makes him immediately think that his pleas were finally answered, producing a hailstorm that will undoubtedly wet the entire field, bringing him back to life, that at least filled him with joy in the almost 47 minutes he was hidden waiting for everything to pass.

After this event, the farmer realized that all the soil was perforated by holes full of water as if someone had passed by with a stick piercing the soil to show something, something that at that moment he attributed to the pieces of ice that at full speed impacted on the recently removed soil. However, he never thought of the miracle that would happen exactly 27 days later, when the small hollows began to sprout the high-quality coffee plants that would save his farm, making it a reference of the best Dominican coffee that is currently sold under the commercial name of "The Miracle”.
