In the immense fields of Colombia, the great coffee city specifically in Cundinamarca, lives a large hard working family that loves this majestic coffee bean and its very special aroma. Yeyé is the youngest son of only 9 years of age, since he can remember seeing his father, brothers and even his mother working in the fields to harvest these beans, which have been the only source of work and income for the family.

In spite of the fact that technology has been continuously advancing and in many departments of this country specific machinery is already used for the harvesting of coffee, this family has continued with the arduous tradition of cultivating and harvesting it manually, since this provides a better quality to the so appreciated black gold as they call it in this region.

However, many people have migrated to other regions in search of financial stability and the vast majority of citizens who remain there are middle-aged and elderly, so Yeyé has almost no one to play with and spends some time bored in those vast fields, since his brothers are much older than him and spend their time working.

A few months had already passed since the sowing of the black gold (coffee) and the weather conditions were ideal for the third stage to take place, while everyone was working on the maintenance process of the coffee trees, Yeyé was walking through the immense fields of coffee plantations and there came a moment in which he felt overwhelmed by the vast geographical space and he was so alone with no one to play with or share his experiences and concerns, and without realizing it, his tears began to run uncontrollably down his cheeks and these in turn fell on one of the coffee plants that were there beginning to bloom.

Through this innate process of venting, Yeyé was able to drain a little of his repressed emotions and he got into the habit of coming every afternoon to appreciate the flowers that were a sign of the early production of a new coffee, and so some months passed and finally this coffee tree was ready to give its first harvest and the boy was very anxious for its harvest, because in this singular tree he had found that friend that would listen to him every afternoon.

At the time of harvesting, Yeyé asked his brothers to allow him to do so, because he wanted to help in the process, they did not give any importance to his request so they decided to please him, this little boy was about to cut the fruit when he heard a voice that told him:

— "¡Ayayayay! Do it more carefully, you are hurting me. This caused a big scare to Yeyé and he was paralyzed instantly. Meanwhile, the coffee fruit said to him":

— "¡Aha! and now you're not going to finish the cut you started? I've been listening to you here for long months your complaints about so much loneliness and now just for you listening to me talking to me you're going to take such a rude attitude? Or have you seen any scarecrows around here?"

Yeyé was in a state of shock, he could not believe his ears, how was it possible that a coffee bean could talk? He was already bordering on madness with so much loneliness, so he decided to run home without looking back. That night he could not sleep, he was disturbed by those words and even more to know if it was true or fiction what had happened in that field of the coffee plantation in the early morning he went to the field where the tree was and the coffee beans had already been cut, he went quickly to his brothers and asked who had cut that coffee bush? And in the middle of so many occupations nobody gave any importance to his concerns, no matter how hard he looked among the harvested beans they were all the same and he could not find that singular coffee bean that he had heard emitting some words.

He waited for the next harvest with great anxiety in the hope that this scene would repeat itself like that afternoon, but it did not happen, and so the years went by and Yeyé has never been able to get out of his mind this situation that life gave him and which he was afraid to face at the time and today he still wonders if what happened was a product of his imagination or if it was true that a coffee bean could speak?
