Give me a coffee straight into my veins, please/ Un número 8 intravenoso por favor

My relationship with coffee started late, very late. Coming from a family that always drank coffee in the morning, mom decided that her children would not drink it, at least as long as it was up to her.

To the rest of the family, we were the odd ones who didn't eat breakfast with coffee. But mom sought to protect us from caffeine dependency from an early age, since all of them, if they didn't drink coffee in the morning, they would have a bad day.

It may or may not be a mental thing, but she would get a headache if she didn't have her cup of coffee early. So she made sure she always had her stash at home so that the next day she wouldn't have any surprises.

When I was already in college, I was initiated by a professor, who in the middle of advising me for my degree work, always invited me for a coffee and would not accept my refusal.

From then on, my relationship with him has been one of comings and goings, but I never say no to a coffee invitation.

One in particular was the one that brought me together with my best friend. We worked at a television station, where the days could be long and stressful.

At the entrance of the channel there was a small kiosk with a coffee vending machine, where we would coincide every day. We always ordered the same type of coffee: number 8, with a hint of vanilla.

Accustomed to the work rhythm, although it was exhausting from time to time, there was nothing that we could not overcome with a good coffee. However, in the middle of the year, and with the vacations still a long way off, the body began to resent the fatigue.

That's when a phrase was born that 15 years later, we still repeat to each other when we talk: I need an intravenous coffee number 8, please. That tells us the level of exhaustion we may have at the time, since, in those days it was what brought "the soul back into our bodies".

Now I'm on a #retodecreaciondecontenido for the entire month of August, and at this point, it's coffee that has me on my feet to achieve the goal.
