Yax was an alien from the planet Yaxkana, a very advanced species that could travel through space and time with their ships.

As Yax was sailing through the Earth’s solar system, he noticed that a light-sound alarm went off. This indicated that there was a serious failure in the ship and that it required landing urgently.

Checking the options for landing, he had no choice but to land on planet Earth. A planet is known in the universe for having inhabitants who dance salsa and drink coffee. It was an excellent opportunity to learn about that peculiar custom.

The failure of the ship was so severe that it could barely be maneuvered and this caused it to fall in a wooded area. As it fell, the ship was damaged and the communication devices became useless.

Yax wanted to know the Earth, but not in that way. Now he had no way of returning home and he was in a world that he did not know how it would receive him.

The first thing he had to do was learn the language, something easy for him because his usual job on his planet was to decipher the languages of the universe.

He put on dark glasses to hide his alien features and tried to adapt to his new environment. That included accepting a job at a coffee shop.

There he discovered coffee, a drink that fascinated him from the first sip. Yax became fond of coffee and drank it often, enjoying its aroma, flavor, and relaxing effect. Coffee became his passion and his joy.

Meanwhile, on Yaxkana, Yax’s mother Yaxa did not accept the news they had given her about her son’s whereabouts. She herself made the arrangements and embarked on a tireless search across the universe.

Something that Yaxkanos have, is that they are born with telepathic powers, and in the family, they are quite pronounced. Yaxa concentrated and tracked Yax’s mental signal and it led her to Earth.

There she located her son’s damaged ship and repaired it with her tools. After finishing the job, she went out to look for Yax, following her intuition. The good vibes led her to the coffee shop where Yax worked and she entered discreetly. When she saw her son behind the counter, a tear of rock came out of her only eye and she was filled with a mixture of joy and relief.

With her mental power, she called him by his name and he turned around and was paralyzed by surprise. She gestured for him to come closer. Yaxa spoke to him and told him that she had come to rescue him. She explained that she had fixed the ship and that they could go home together. She also told him that she missed him a lot and that she loved him.

Yax hugged his mother and told her that he loved her intensely, but did not want to leave Earth. He told her that he had gotten used to living there and that he had found something that made him happy: coffee. He told his mother enthusiastically that he invited her to try the best drink in the universe.

Yaxa accepted the coffee out of curiosity and to please her son. She tasted it cautiously and felt a delicious and strong flavor in her mouth. She liked it a lot. She savored it and finished it with pleasure. She told Yax that it was a delight and that she couldn’t believe that he had discovered something so wonderful.

Yax felt happy about his mother’s words and thanked her for respecting his tastes and decisions. He told her that he was happy with coffee and that he wanted to stay on Earth.

Yaxa understood Yax and told him that she knew what he was saying and doing. She told him that coffee was a blessing, that it was filling him with peace. That she accepted whatever his decision was, whether to leave with her or stay on earth.

Yax got emotional and told her that he did not want to part with her. He asked her to stay with him. Yaxa was moved and expressed to Yax that it didn't matter where they were, but how they were.

She told him that the important thing was to be happy and that if he wanted to stay, she was not going to be an impediment, rather she would stay with him because he was her son and she loved him.

Yax smiled broadly as he hugged his mother. He realized that he had won the coffee forever and that he would never stop being happy.

A mother will always seek the happiness of her son and that was what Yaxa did.

Once a year they went around Yaxkana loaded with large quantities of good coffee.

Note from the author:

A mother's love is so wonderful, I have no doubt it is universal; it is a feeling that reaches to the farthest corner of the universe and is compared to the love of the almighty.

My mother left her spaceship in September 2012 and is somewhere in the universe. I am still on Earth, waiting for my spaceship to take me with her.
