"The Coffee Shop Scene"
Young Peter wakes up this morning with a big smile on his face, a world of memories coming to his thoughts, after he finally managed to give a kiss to Karina, the light-eyed, long-haired girl he likes so much since a couple of years ago at school. Maybe it was fate itself the means to achieve it, through something as special and common for him, as a cup of coffee.
It still seems incredible to him that afternoon, in the school canteen, while he was having his usual coffee before entering math classes, she approached him to ask him what kind of coffee he liked, something that left him breathless for a few seconds, before answering with a mischievous laugh, I love light brown coffee like the color of your eyes, making her blush immediately.
The more they got to know each other, the more they saw how much they were alike in tastes, highlighting among many things their love for coffee despite their young age at the time. Peter then had a great ideal, so he invited Karina to a formal date in a coffee shop that he enjoyed very much for the fun and colorful atmosphere it had, not to mention that there was always soft music, which would make it special for this second date where he would officially ask her to be his girlfriend.
Early in the morning Peter got up to get ready and try to make sure everything was great for this important occasion, of course, he called the place and set aside a special table next to the cat's playground, thinking that this weekend was the International Cat Day and no doubt the sight of these cute little animals playing would put the girl he was trying to conquer in a very good mood.
Peter knew very well how girls get when they see the soft fur of a cute kitten, almost all of them get excited to play with them and that would be the ideal occasion to ask her to be formally his girlfriend. In his mind he practiced many times the different possible scenarios, the perfect words he would say, he even imagined how Karina would react, she would be completely in love with him, sharing the same taste for coffee and cats.
The clock on the console of the bus he had taken earlier indicated that it was 3 pm, the time they had arranged to meet at the nearby bus stop, and he was arriving punctually. After a few minutes of waiting, finally the beautiful brown-eyed girl showed up in a pink dress that made her look great, leaving Peter open-mouthed, as he had never seen such an elegant outfit for such an appointment.
After blinking for a few seconds, paralyzed before the beauty in front of him, he greeted her with a kiss and took her hand to lead her to the shop, but assured her that he had a surprise prepared, which is why he asked her to put a silk handkerchief he carried in his pocket over her eyes. Karina, a little intrigued, but very happy for the preparations made by her companion, accepted and walked with him to the coffee shop.
Once in the shop, the young man sat Karina at the reserved table even with her eyes blindfolded, but suddenly she began to feel uncomfortable as if she was short of breath, then her nose became swollen and red, before she began to sneeze continuously leaving her almost speechless before the surprised look of the boy who did not understand what was happening.
Karina took off her blindfold quite upset, at that moment she realized that she was in a modern and very nice place, but totally surrounded by affectionate cats playing and having fun everywhere, something that made her hit a loud scream as if she was seeing her worst nightmare to then run out of the place crying and covering her eyes.
Peter saw at that moment how all the plans in his mind burned in fire without knowing what was happening, but he inevitably felt his heart cracking, breaking in two at the snub Karina gave him.
On Monday they met again in the mathematics classroom at school, although it sounds strange to say, she was not upset, on the contrary she called Peter and gave him a big hug and told him that she also loves cats, but she is extremely allergic to their hair, so they would have to settle for watching funny videos of those beautiful animals on the internet.
That was how cats and coffee created a great loving relationship between these two characters who, despite studying together for quite some time, never allowed themselves to get to know each other better.
