Coffee at the Salt Cellar on Gold Hill, Shaftesbury

We had a day trip to Shaftesbury in Dorset. We chose a cafe called the Salt Cellar for a drink and a bite to eat.

Looking out of the window in the cafe, UK readers might recognise the hill where they filmed the Hovis bread advert 'Boy on the Bike,' in the 1970s, directed by a young Ridley Scott. It was originally in black and white and is a story of a young boy delivering bread on the very steep, cobble stone street on Gold Hill in Dorset, and then free-wheeling back down. In the 90s, it was digitally remastered and given a new lease of life. Source

The cafe was quite busy but the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

We ordered a black coffee and a hot chocolate. It was very cold outside so we needed something to warm us up. After looking at the menu we ordered ...

... a jacket potato with cheese, roasted vegetables and salad, which turned out to be the nicest jacket potato I've ever tasted. Why don't mine turn out this good??

My friend ordered a salmon and potato pie, a jacket potato and roasted vegetables to accompany it. As I looked out the window, I could just imagine the young bread boy struggling to get up the hill!
